Who is currently making the best flip up sight sets?

What are all the cool kids using these days?

Local gun shop carries the Magpul flip up sight sets.

On the Troy recommendation. Which front sight? HK? M4? Just preference? Benefit to either?

Troy are the best for the most part.

I personally use and prefer the Magpul MBUS though. I prefer their look, they're lighter, and I'm a Magpul whore.

I run Aimpoint red dots on the AR's I run flip up sights, and frankly, with that said, the chance of me ever even needing them is very unlikely.

Don't waste your money on the magpul sights, they're junk.  Troy are the best, and most expensive, but you get what you pay for.

You clearly have done some extensive research to come to this conclusion.

I've had a few break on me, mainly the latch.  Never had a Troy break though.  To each his own

There was a thread here, a while ago, with a member smashing a troy, another top quality site, I think arms?, and a mbus on a concrete bench. ETA: The other was a diamondhead, which I have on all my rifles
Both the steel sites were bent, and canted ruining the zero, but the mbus just had a big gouge in one of the ears.  He did this while the sites were in the up position.

I have the MI rail mounted front sight and MI SPLP rear on both of my AR's and am very pleased with them. Sturdy, lock in the up position, and I have not had any problems with the screw loosening or loosing zero.

Troy makes good sights.  MI (midwest industries) sights are not bad either.  On my current assembly I'm going w/ GG&G MAD's.  They look interesting and solid.

Do the Troy rears stow low enough to not interfere with a PVS-14 or 3x Mag on a twist mount?

I dig the KAC's.  Both original and micro.  Slim, effective, and do the job for a nonfixed BUIS.

I have YHM on my AR but that is because my gas block is YHM with a built in flip up sight so I kept the rear flip up sight the same.  I like them alot and I am very accurate with them but I wish I had the Troy battle sights.  Cant go wrong with TROY!
