Looking at either the Black Hills 77gr Mk262 Mod 1 or Black Hills 75gr Heavy Match Hollow Point (Blue Box). Quite a difference in price so trying to decide if there is that much difference in performance. Looking to shoot 100-500 yds.

Black hills does load blue box 77's too. Doesn't cost as much as MK262.

This is my suggestion. Try a box of several different kinds that you'd think you'd like. And find out what your barrel likes. You may like the 75's over the 77's. But your barrel may not. It's all a give and take. My lifelong goal is to find a cheap load, that shoots super great, is in great supply, that I can use for hunting / self defense / long range / match and plinking.

I think I may die before that ever happens.

Thanks for the info. I found some 77 Gr. Sierra Match King (much cheaper than the Mk262), but it is .223 and not 5.56. I pretty sure most of these barrels (WOA and Noveske) are 5.56 chambered so I should be able to shoot either accurately correct?

A 5.56 chamber will be fine with .223 and 5.56 pressure ammunition, but you should not use 5.56 in a .223 chamber. If you do have a 5.56 chamber you are correct.

Yes as he said, shoot away if it is a 5.56 chamber.
