What is the tightest 5.56mm @ 100 yards group you've ever shot, and with what equipment? I shot a 3/4" group with a damaged Noveske barrel at 100 yards (has a gouge in the bore...I think I ruined it with an over-sized 1.25" square mil-spec cleaning rod and a patch that I had no choice but to hammer through...)
I am wondering what my 26" Kreiger will shoot when I get it back from Adco (threading) and shoot it for the first time. Is the 5.56 "clover-leaf capable"? |

I just looked it up, the 09 world record for 100yds was .1482" not sure what with though.

With 5.56mm NATO or with a 5.56mm bullet? I only said "5.56mm" to establish the general caliber, i.e. not 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel, etc... |

Never actually measured it but, mine was definitely a sub-moa 10 shot group with MK262 out of an 18" Noveske..

I have a .4" 3 shot group with prvi partizan match ammo on a 18" DPMS barrel. I am sure it would of open up if I've done a 5 shot group. I was sighting in my scope at the time so I was saving the ammo for the next group...

Right around .6" 5 shot group with my 18" Stealth with 75 gr Hornady BTHPs.

|
Shot a .455 5 shot group out of a 16" LMT govt profile upper with 62gr reloads. Never was able to repeat it. I can maintain about a .75 consistency 5 shot group out of it currently.

like 5in at 120yrds!! but its gettin better. all new equipment also! still felling her out

With my predator pursuit and nikon monarch 4x16 scope using factory ammo, I can easily do .75" groups and about .6" groups when I am really taking my time. I think the rifle is capable of much better with dialed in handloads and a good stable shooting bench setup. Oh and a better shooter

|
5 shots into .310" at 100 yards, off a bipod. A dime covered the group. Handloads were Nosler 55 gr CT, 23 grains of Varget, 24" Bushmaster Varminter.

When I am doing my part and the weather is good I can usually hold MOA or slightly over with a 20" WOA and 10X scope.
When I first got an AR I was amazed at the accuracy of it. Then I started shooting 10 shot groups......... I love my bolt rifles. |

.5 from a 16" DPMS Bull barrell. That is really saying something about DPMS. If you are shooting 1/2" from a DPMS barrel, it makes me look pretty silly for buying a Kreiger 26". |

16" RRA 1:8 SS
Best 4 Shot Group - 62gr Barnes TSX .766 Best 5 Shot Group - 55gr Hornady FMJ .779 |

You guys posting groups, did you subtract the bullet diameter from those?

.562 5 shot group at 100 yards with an 18" LaRue Stealth. Using Federal XM193.

That's the only reason I kept the DPMS barrel. I bought it for a target type build. And just to be fair, it's chambered for .223, not 5.56. Stainless Bull barrel. I kept the target for a long time, but I have no idea where it is now. At 100, I could put every shot in a 1" orange dot on the bull. Only .223/5.56 I ever had that would. I don't remember what ammo I was using. Nothing spectacular though. I can't afford it. |

I've done a couple of 1 ragged hole groups at 100 yds with my precision AR with handloaded ammo.

pics or non of this happened... No way man, this is the internet. Everyone has a rifle that shoots half-moa with bulk ammo. |

ONCE got under an inch with 3, never went for 5 shot groups till recently.

I'd be curious what ammo everyone is finding most accurate with their guns. My predator pursuit teases me with real tackdriver accuracy with match ammo. I've had 3 of 5 shots almost all touching at 100 yards. My problem is I always have a shot (sometimes two) in a 5 shot group that opens things up. Still, I am happy with 5 shot groups that average .75" at 100 yards and a bit better if I really take my time between shots and focus on the trigger.
So far, horrandy ammo is the most accurate factory ammo in my rifle but is too pricey at $30 for a box of 50 rounds to shoot alot. What factory ammo are other folks getting best accuracy from? |
|
My Krieger 16" barrel shoots better than I do but has allowed me to get as tight as 3/8" but normally with handloads (24.0 gr RE-15 77smk FED205M primer ww cases) it tends to vary between 1/2"~ 1" all fliers included. ;)

Don't save many targets and never take pics of them, but the best group I have in my log book was 5 shots measuring 0.504". This was with 75 grain Scirocco's over Varget from a DPMS MK 12 barrel. I have a laundry list of groups from the same barrel using varios load combinations in the .06-0.9" range.

|
looks like you have your predator pursuit dialed in nicely. I need to work up a good handload to use with mine since factory ammo gets expensive fast. I also find to get the best accuracy out of my PP, I need to wait a minute between shots. Don't know if it really is to let the barrel cool down or just to let me focus more on trigger pull but it does make for tighter groups on mine. I wish I had a place to do some long range shooting with mine and see what it could do.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v260/toxicar/groups006.jpg 24" barreled Krieger, JP single stage trigger, lead in butt stock, accuracy front block, bagged in on concrete bench. Under .5 " for 10 shots. This Krieger is awesome. Many 3 shot groups in the high .1's low.2's . lots of sub .5" 5 shots. It really likes the Sierra Match Kings and the 50 Vmax both over Varget. Barrel is 1 in 9 twist. All ammo was weighed ,sorted, and checked for concentricity of less than .0015 before that 10 shot group. Only the perfect loads were used on that one. If you do your homework and practice good bench/shooting techniques, the AR is a very accurate platform. A 1:9 barrel shooting those kinds of groups with 77 gr. Sierra's?! ...NOT POSSIBLE! Only a 1:7 twist can handle bullets that long. Nice shooting, toxic! ..and it looks like you have a fine rifle there. |

I like your build style. Very classy. Good to see someone using an A2 buttstock for once :)

My best 5-shot group ever was around 0.8 inches. I can usually get down just below 1" on a good day with my (pretty cheap) reloads...
I've never spent much time making match ammo, not sure I'm a good enough shot to warrant that much time, money, and energy yet... |
|
best ive done at 100m is a 1 shot group with 0 moa. not bragging, but hey im a beast. 55grain WWB freehand.....
