Hey guys, just wanted to start this thread to see who else is still waiting on their BH NATO 77 ammo.
Please don't use this to bash Tommy from GPSS, not what I want, I just want a general idea of how many people are still waiting so I know that I'm not alone and forgotten somehow. I got in on this deal late and I know that alot of people waited what I guess seemed like forever but my new Bushmaster 1/7 upper keeps checking it's e-mail for a tracking #. Thanks alot and lets keep our fingers crossed it reaches us soon. |
This is an e-mail I just got from Tommy(thanks for the quick response), hope it sheds some light on the situation.
There is currently 14,000 rounds of the NATO 77 on order from BH from approximately 8-9 people. Time frame for delivery of Batch 2 of this ammo is April 1 at the moment. This is subject to change due to several factors including production schedules. All Batch 1 orders have been delivered. Tommy GPSS |
Have you guys attempted to contact Tommy @ GP about this? If so, what was his response?
I can't get him on the phone nor are my e-mails answered. I usually get an update from him posting here. Last I heard it was mid May, production or shipping I don't know.
Have you guys attempted to contact Tommy @ GP about this? YEP !
Tryed email and phone - nothing |
Jeez its been so long and it appears we have to wait even longer as there is some kind of shortage of funds as the minimum order for the second batch was not met? This is getting to be ridiculous.
I'm still waiting on a 1500 rds. I enquired about the status just recently and was told that the minimum amount of orders had still not been filled. I presume I will have to wait until that happens. If no one else orders any, I guess that day won't be coming.
SO YOU PEOPLE GO ORDER SOME SO I CAN GET MY AMMO!!! |
Is this true? Who did you guys hear it from? If true, this really, really sucks. Really.
Sorry Guys I wrote to Tommy requesting my order to be Canceled with a complete refund-have not gotten a reply yet.
Did not realize my order was not in stock. Been waiting close to three months. I been more then patient. |
My information came from GPSS.
I'm sad to hear of a sharkbait's cancellation as that means I have even more to wait. However, as a depositor in the whole Shrike affair, I have enormous patience. If one is going to cancel, or wait until it is in stock - you are never going to get any, it's as simple as that since a minimum amount must be ordered before Black Hills will make the run of ammo, and then all that ammo will go to the people who ordered it. If waiting on preorders is the problem, there will be no leftover stock. If you are trying to wait until it gets made before ordering, you won't get any and it just makes the wait longer for those who ordered. Cancelling your order due to wait time means you have given up ever getting any at all unless you are sharing with someone else, some one else gets BH to make a run and offers it for sale, or something else happens in the future. This is based on an assumption that GPSS is only having BH make no more than what it manages to have sold in preorders. |

Any ammo is better than no ammo. This stuff isn't gold for heaven sake. Get some 75 TAP & be done w/ it. You could have reloaded a few k in the meantime. By the way, some of the real deal men still cant get the stuff in a war zone. "I am, to this day, trying to get the Mk 262 ammunition, either mod. It is being used extensively by the tier one units and is having some issues reaching all interested parties." -SEAL
IMO. -Justin |

Considering what this stuff is, and the demands the military are placing on suppliers. Its not hard to figure that multiple delays are possible. Anyway I'll drop Tommy a note to pick up Sharkbaits order so nothing should change. I have thousands of once and twice fired Hornady/USGI 223 cases looking for a home, if someone will pay S&H.

Sorry everyone but I'm out. I just emailed GPSS for a refund. 8 months and still no firm date of production is too much for me.

There is not enough intrest in a second run at this time. We needed 25,000 rounds for a second run. We had 19 at one time. That has now dropped to about 10-11000. At this time , we are cancelling this run and will be contacting all of the parties involved.

Crap. Is was only by mistake on someones part I wasn't included in the first run, man am I disappointed by this news.
ETA: I'm thinking several thoughts: Does anyone who got some the first time want to make some money and sell me theirs? Could anyone else offer this ammunition? Is anyone interested in a group buy so we could do this on our own? There wasn't very much advertising done on this ammo, I only knew of it by going to GPSS's website but I am sure there are ARF members that could be tapped if they only knew about it. I would be good for a case and a half. |
AK Mike, this whole thing was started by AR15.com members. I followed the thread for almost a year before I finally got the money to order it back in early Dec '03. Really sucks, but hell, I probably would never have shot it, just stared at it every once in awhile, run my finger tip over its open tip. Oh well, I'll try to pick up some Hornady 75 TAP instead. And maybe a new LMT upper.
Tommy, thanks for the effort. |
I thought about re upping the advertsing for the 77 NATO. It takes 25000 rounds to make the special run happen. We never got over 19,000 on the second run. The first runs was over 25000. I do not even have any of this ammo. I have shot about 50 rounds of it and it performed flawlessly.
I would consider revising the ads if there is enough interest. Tommy GPSS I still have commitments for 11000 rounds. |
No matter what I'm still in Tommy, hell I gotta practice more with some cheaper ammo anyway...

All I know is when I ordered the ( BH 77gr Nato ammo ) months ago I was under the impression it was in stock ready to ship.It was never passed on to me that it was not in stock and there would be a wait.
Tryed emailing and phone calls to fined out where my order was. This is the first I heard it was never in stock. |
We will be getting a smaller run of this ammo. Just got off the phone and found out that BH will make a smaller run than the 25000 we were originall shooting for. It still has to get into the schedule but this will get done pretty quick. I will post some more info as soon as I get the schedule.

I wonder if they would do a run of the cannelured Sierra 77 grain ammo for about the same price as the Nosler. Any idea how much more ierra bullets cost than Nosler? Even 75 grain Hornady cannelured bullets would be awesome. My particular M4 is sub MOA with 75 grain Red box. I wont carry it in a duty carbine since its not cannelured though.
May be possible to switch to the Sierra 77's with cannulure if everyone is in agreement. I will have to check to be sure.

I *may* buy some if any is left over. I can't afford it at the moment.
However, I think I would prefer the 75gr Hornady over the 77gr Nosler or 77gr SMK. In most experiments, the Hornady has a slightly shorter neck before fragmentation. |
77 cannelured Sierras are fine with me, whatever they can produce the quickest.
I didn't read that the bullet was the problem, but not meeting minimum order. I might be able to up my order from 500 to 1K if that'll help.
Just a humble opinion that if people want match ammunition for target shooting, then buy stuff that's already available. This is a custom order loaded with the 77gr Nosler that appears to be one the best defensive rounds available that is cannelured and staked. The SMK may have an advantage in long range accuracy, but terminal ballistics can't compare with the Nosler. This is a rare opportunity for the general public to get such a round. Nosler for me.
What are the specifics? Im getting a 1in7 barrel next week and might be in for some BH ammo.
Isn't that round already available? |
For the two post above.
See the Link Here For more info. This is a custom loading at about 2750 FPS with the Nosler 77 gr OTM loaded in Mil Spec 855 Spec brass duplicating the 262 Mod 1 Nato load. Thanks, Tommy GPSS |
In NATO pressures? No. |
The Mod 0 was the non-cannelured 77gr SMK. The Mod 1 was the canelured 77gr Nosler, but has been switched with a cannelured 77gr SMK. |
Id buy an extra half case if it was the 75 grain cannelured NATO pressure. I actually pushed for that to be the load when KevinB was just finding out if we would be interested in ammo like this in a group buy. Seemed like noone liked my idea then as they wanted the MK262 Mod1 spec and now once again they want the current spec MK262 Mod1 which is the cannelured Sierra. I still believe that the 75 grain cannelured Hornady OTM at NATO pressure is the ideal round. It may not have a fancy counterpart in military use but it still is the best combination of accuracy and terminal effectiveness.
