what kind of set up do you have?
where on your rifle would you like it? how high do you want it to sit? do you want back up sights? |
How about A.R.M.S.® #22M68 Full Spacer?
any good and bad comments?hinking.gif will co-witness with iron sights ? |

MUST NOT COMMENT..... Stick with Lumpy's advice (he knows best). C4 |

oh yeah...what's the big seceret regarding the ARMS cantilever mount...why is everyone bashing it so much??
there have been cases of the arms pressure pad wearing/loosening up which would not secure the mount tightly to the rail.
the only problem i have ever had with the arms mount was that they would not work on my alexander arms .50 beowulf upper. it would not close more than halfway and the buis would not even slide onto the upper. but other than that i have no complaints but i will aslo add that ever since then i have been using larue mounts i personally like the cantilever larue mount. also note that the arms/aimpoint combo has an absolute co-witness, meaning the irons are in the center of the glass where the larue is in the lower third. |
[johnny carson] I did not know that [/johnny carson] although , I confess to not having used the Aimpoint, I do not understand that if you are seeking an absolute co-witness, why have an unmagnified optic at all? It would seem potentially distracting in a real SHTF CQB scenario. But I guess that's another topic for another day. and lastly.....ARMS sure has sold a S-load of those #22M68 mounts. |

Quick, someone post that "Not this shit again" pic!!!! |

though most know or have seen this thread before the guy posting has not

This setup will cowitness with the iron sights. I have had great success with this setup. The setup comes off fast since it has a throw lever. After I re-install it, the sights are still zero'd and ready to go. I'd highly recommend this. |

I like the std mount (LT150)a bit more because it's just as good as the LT129, but a bit cheaper. And I think most people can put it out at the forward edge of their lower and the Aimpoint will be placed just right. That being said I do have a carbine with an Aimpoint in the LT129. It is set-up like that because I have the 3x Magnifier behind it, in a LT150. With the Aimpoint in the cantilever mount it pushes it forward enough to let the magnifier sit behind it just perfect without extending out over the back of the chanrging handle. They are both great mounts though. |

Thanks Monty, that's kinda what I was thinking you were getting at. Does anyone have any experience with the Wilcox Aimpoint mount?
Pardon my ignorance on the subject, but where does the ARMS #22M68 cowitness without a spacer?
And with a spacer? With a 'Full' spacer, would it be an absolute cowitness or lower 3-rd? |
Because they have out-of-spec rails. |
i know that with the full spacer its absolute co-witness and have read that the half spacer puts it in the lower third |
GG&G is a little spendy IMO. Larue mounts are always nice but I'm not sure if they work well with the 3X MAG. The ARMS with full spacer or cantilever spacer will work perfectly with the Samson 3X quick flip mount. I haven't tried the knight's mount.
I had the ARMS 22M68 with the full spacer, and later with a cantilever spacer. I liked it. I moved to a LaRue. The guy I sold my 22M68 to couldn't get it to fit his upper, it fit my Bushmaster but it wouldn't fit his. He sold it to someone else and got a LaRue.
I don't know if the ARMS can "stretch out" over time or what. But it was interesting that it fit on mine just fine, but wouldn't fit on another one of similar vintage. Then again I put it on and never took it off. With the adjustment on the LaRue throw lever, I'm never worried about it not fitting another upper. |
I agree that the full spacer it co-witnesses center, but with a half spacer, wouldn't it co-witness in the upper portion of the lens [less spacer = lower optic = higher irons, relative to the optic]? |

I'll be a renegade and say that I have been running theARMs22M68 cantilever mount on my Bushy for close to two years now. It was the Hot set up at that time as I was looking for a throw lever mount. As to Fit. I can slide the mount back and forth on my rail a little, but not side to side. As to repeatability /Accuraccy. I have tested it by firing groups in between mounting/Dismounting the sight/Mount and find that the groups hold within 1-2 MOA.
As to pieces being held together with screws... that is correct and you should be aware of that fact. like anything if you don't install it correctly, use Loctite and follow up with witness marks and check consistently, you can be caught unaware and have the mount loosen up. it has served me well with fairly heavy use over 3 classes and about4K rds. For the average Joe who is not using his weapon for harduse and you get a smokin deal on one, you would be OK. That being said I may or may not switch to a LaRue down the road. For my needs the ARMs mount is working and has continued to work for me. Now if it ever takes a shit on me. Well that's another story and I would choose a LaRue with the new style latch/throw lever mount and be confident I had one of the best mounts out there. Decide on what your needs are and then base you choice on fufilling those needs and you should be happy. I have no experience with PRI and KAC so no comment is offered....just my $.02 |
Look at the D&L Sports mount at www.dlsports.com
It has a spare battery compartment, which is always nice. |
So, how do like the LT light? Ya, I remember the old days where ARMS walked on clouds around here with all the KAC/ARMS threads. I've a couple ARMS throw levers which worked for me but I was quite happy to switch to LT. The only problems I had was with one throw lever arms mount in that it was tight as a $! In the world of arfcom history is only a day away. |

It's a nice light at a nice price. It is not the end-all, be-all. But it works very well for CQB-distance work. You will never have to worry about a screw coming loose, and the run time on it is very good. 90 minutes at 100 lumens, then it slowly fades, still usable for awhile. |

Not like all of us studs here on ARFCom. |

I'm using an ARMS 22M68 for my M3 and a Samson QF for my 3x. This configuration works great for me in both form and function. I do not like a setup that co-witnesses in the lower third. I do not care for the heightened profile of the LaRue setup, although I fully agree that LaRue makes quality hardware. Nonetheless, however, I have had no issues with any ARMS mounts that I have. None have slipped nor loosened. As long as certain conditions exists (i.e. mil-spec, proper tightening, etc...), I have no reason to suspect any reliability failure from an ARMS mount. The Samson QF is one of the best mounts for the Aimpoint 3X, IMO. Yes, throw lever mounts allow for quick removal of the magnifier, however, not as quick as depressing a lever on the QF allowing the 3X to flip 90 degrees to the side, allowing instant CQB effectiveness. Re-engaging the 3X is attainable by another split second flip. And if you really do need a full removal from the receiver, then a short version of the ARMS #17 throw lever is a part of the system. So again, form and function...I couldn't be any happier. http://wetworksrc.homestead.com/files/AR3XMountedOutside.JPG This is my JT/TalonArms fueled AR. The jury is still out regarding the M3 boot...it complements the 3X's rubberized armor, but fit is not as clean as I would like it to be... |

Larue.
I used to be a believer in ARMS but I can move the 22M68 forwards and backwards if I put enough pressure on it. When I get some extra $$$ I will be replacing all ARMS on all my ARs (22M68, 19S and 40) with Larue CCO/4XDOS mount and Troy BUIS. However, to be fair, ALL my ARMS mounts are holding zero very well even after repeated dismount/remounting. However in doing so I think I got my loose bit...its just that when I apply enough pressure it moves and it is giving me worries. |
LARUE! What a great mount. Adjustable lever, locks in so it never gets bumped off, has extra battery compartment. Co-witnesses in the lower 1/3. I like the opposing screws. Mine came with a little wrench for adjusting the tension nut, a torx wrench for the screws, an extra screw, a mini tube of blue-locktite, Larue's "survival tool" (3-way bottle opener), and a "Larue Tactical" ball cap. Just wearing that hat makes me 2% more high-speed, low-drag |
FF rails are really more about keeping pressure off your barrel and improving accuracy. It is also about dissipating heat. You can of course mount your optic on there, but it isn't something I would do (if I could help it). C4 |
Damn! That is a nice AR |
I like the fact I don't have to flip my 3X to the side when I want to pop off / on my lens covers for my Aimpoint. I could have used a cantilever spacer but I wanted a little more room and my Aimpoint further up the rail system. On top of all of that, the Samson is rock solid and isn't going anywhere. |

ARMS is crap IMO. I have had 3 22m68's and all of them were crap.
I am running a Knights cantilever now. Life is good. As Lumpy said, LaRua, PRI or Kinights and you are GTG. |

thanks for all the info!h.gif

So, what was wrong/went wrong with them could you be more specific? |
Please do, I'd like to hear what you have to say. |

Shoot me an e-mail or IM to discuss specifics. C4 |

I have had my ARMS mount for 3+ years with ZERO issues. I also have several other ARMS items on various weapons and all those seem to work just fine. Now I will say the bad word when it comes to ARMS.........SIR!!!!!
OK ready for that dino pic! j/k Go with the LaRue mounts. Great stuff and is my only other pic above the ARMS. |
I finally ponied up and put an Aimpoint on my M4. After reading the threads here, I decided to go with the Larue 150. Co-witness is great, and the mount itself is rock-solid. I can't wait to zero the aimpoint and put it to use.

LaRue sounds good. Where would one purchase LaRue Aimpoint Mount products?

Here's a good place: LaRue Tactical |
