OH, NO, IT'S BACK!!!! The Shrike!!!! Whatever happened to all the hype and controversy that surrounded this? It just sort of died.

I think the Shrike has had an impact on some members around here.
Not myself, but I read where many ponied up for the product, only to be left waiting

that isnt gospel, but how I rememebred reading about it

It does look awesome though

I would add that it is targeted to F/A users

Kind of like a mini-version of the SAW M249

Its currently a myth. Time will tell if there is any truth to its existence.

If it ever comes out there is going to be a run on RR M16s.

you'll probably have a better chance seeing a unicorn than the Shrike. i feel sorry for those who have downpayments on them and have been waiting, and waiting. in May, end of May, middle of June..sometimein August...etc, etc.. speshul weapons might be crappy, but at least their stuff gets out on the shelves.

The shrike IMHO was a DIRECT contributor to the insane rise in prices that FA firearms went through after it came out. For YEARS a register M16 lower was around $4000.00 and a drop in sear about $3200.00 to $3800.00 with RLLs in the $2500.00 range.

Then the presales of the shrike happened and overnight the prices on anything FA in the AR15/M16 family started to rise. When the market price started to surpass those of HK prices they, 9not to be out done) went up in value to.

So all I have to say on this is CURSE you Aries Defense and your retched shrike. Thanks guys you have, in one marketing move (akin to salting a bad gold mine) put FA weapons into a category where they are more expensive than a good used car. I hope you choke and that jamming POS.

P.S. No I don’t have a deposit with them either

Agreed!

Actually, we have a better chance of getting a beltfed upper through the following steps:

1. get everyone on the forum to chip in a couple of bucks
2. hire a actual design engineer
3. make a working pre-production prototype
4. test the living hell out of it,
5. send out request for quotes, to various machine shop for production cost,
6. build the systems and sell them.

The sad thing is, if you follow these step in a timely, but thorough manner, there would probably be a working production model available to the general public before a single Shrike is sold. Food for thought.

I like belt fed guns and all, but why the hell would any one want one of these for $3500? Get your self a few Beta mags and you can have plenty of fun there without having to spend so friggin' much.

I put down a deposit in August 2002
But I'm having my fix of fun elsewhere, I'm sure it'll come to be eventually, I just gave up on getting my hands on mine any time soon.

Looks like ORF is going to make their own version of a Belt fed ar15 upper. Probably cheaper and will actually COME OUT.

Going to be? The damn Shrike is responsible for me not being able to afford an M-16 as it is. The '86 ban be damned, if the Shrike had never reared its ugly head I'd have at least a LL today.
