I saw this BCM OEM late last night, and hadn't had a chance to say anything about it until now.
I searched the board and was kind of surprised it hadn't been mentioned. There were a few remarks in another Aero OEM thread about it, but I didn't want to de-rail that one. So, $999.00. Some might think that's a steal... the other thread had one guy say too much, another thread said he would buy it. I'm in the way too much crowd. I have a 14.5 elw-f complete upper on a BCM Blem lower that I love, but I didn't pay more than $1,100 for that rifle together, probably just a hair over $1,000. I'm happy to see more OEM rifles being offered, I wish Colt did so with their 6720. However this seems like a lot of money for what it is. I don't like the KMR/A rails due to keymod, so this gets a person away from that if they wish, but other that, not sure I see the value. Just my thoughts. |

aero offers the same thing, but it's for sale for 559 right now....

BCM Recce Complete @ AIM
This is only $1380. So to break even with the OEM you'd have to get a stock and handguard installed for the $380 difference. Depending on what you wanted, would be doable. |
|
Buy a blem lower for $250 and buy an upper during a holiday sale.
|
|
Cheaper in the long run to buy a BCM upper and lower separately.
Still cool that they're getting into it, just needs to be cheaper. |
|
Having owned both a bcm and Aero Precision. I'd take the Aero. For my personal use Aero fits the bill with cost to benefit. If I was a door kicker and needed to run the snot out of the gun day I'm and day out I would go bcm.
When I had my bcm it started as just the 14.5 carbine upper no handguards so it was relatively cheap. But 1k plus needing a stock and handguards no way |

Colt OEM is $750. All BCM does is ensure you get "Colt Quality" (by adhering as close to the TDP as they are able to).

ETA: Given Colts recent track record...that's a bold statement You have a point. Colt's QC can be up or down at any given moment. I'm just saying that BCM got it's foot in the proverbial door by offering parts that were "true Mil-spec" (a realm previously owned solely by Colt). |

Put a BCM upper on an (insert PSA/BCM/AERO) lower and profit (as the kids say these days.)

I saw that email too, figured they were motivated by Aero's cheap offering.
BCM's awesome and all but that's a bit high imo. |

Your link is fucky and has add tracking shit in it. If you look it redirects to some site then instantly to brownells.

I got this redirect URL from Arfcom itself, it might have to do with the site's ad analytics for companies that advertise on here. I haven't noticed it for hotlinks to sites that aren't "affiliates" on Arfcom.

As far as the rifle linked, overpriced IMO. If it came with a KMR Alpha that would be a good deal, but not as is. |

To be noted, the BCM comes with some non-standard parts (CH, trigger, end plate, etc.). Scroll down at Brownells to see what it comes with.

View Quote I got this rifle for only $1100. Cheaper to buy the upper and lower seperatly. So for a $100 more over the OEM, you get a kmr handgard and bcm stock. So for $1000 the OEM really isn't a good deal. |

Not sure why the linked didn't work, other than that it may have to do with Brownells being a site sponso issue that someone mentioned.
Overall, I am excited to see more OEM rifles being offered. This isn't something I would buy. But.... if they offered a ELW barrel and there was a good black friday sale, I would be very tempted. Like foolishly tempted. I also dream of the day that Colt may offer a OEM 2 6720, but Colt's Colt... what are you gonna do other than watch them go bankrupt while saying, "please take my money.!' It's like rich people on the Titanic not wanting to get in a lifeboat with the common people. Anyway, as more OEM options are offered, this price may drop or new options offered. |
|
Seems like you'd spend the same amount and get more, by getting a complete BCM lower ($395 at my LGS) which has the same components as the OEM rifle lower and comes with a stock, add a BCM upper, and you're at about $1000.

You'd think for $1K BCM would at least pin the gas block.... View Quote Shit I wish they would pin their LPGBs.... Would be much easier to remove than their current process With the loctite and dimpling they do they are damn near impossible to remove .... Even with a torch I broke a few torx bits and eventually gave up and cut it off |

Generally the reason to get the BCM over the Colt is the gas system. The BCM also has an upgraded trigger (they're nice, for those have have never played with them) and depending on your preferences, possibly a nicer pistol grip. If for some reason you want a 16" carbine gas rifle, then sure, you can't really beat the Colt. |
