I have 900 rds of 62 gr. Australian army surplus in clear plastic sheets of 50 rds (divided in groups of 5)

I am trying to find out the quality of this ammo and how old it is.

It came packed in an ammo can with 2 large white stickers covering each side

On 1 side:
QTY 900
CART 5.56 mm BALL F1
IN 18 PLASTIC FIM PACKS
LOT 554 ADI 10/R

Opposite side, large white sticker:

UN 0012
CARTRIDGES
SMALL ARMS
“u” and underneath an “n” in a circle
4/A/Y30/S/95
AUS/ADI 10087/09R

The ammo came packed in an ammo can which is tight and functional but seems old.

Thanks you help.

Danny

First world surplus ammo is usually GTG.
If I had to take a WAG, I'd say it's 1995 production.

What does the headstamp read ?

All the ADI currently available is supposed to be 2012 or 2013.

Sounds like 2010. Usually most mil surplus ammo will have the last two digits of the year on the headstamp, but especially ammo manufactured by military contract in NATO countries will have the year & NATO cross (a small circle with a cross inside) on the headstamp.

Should be just fine.

I'd have bought plenty if it wasn't priced crazy. If the price ever returns to earth I'll pick some up. I'd think those 5 rd plastic packs would piss me off though... lol

I have about 400 rounds.
Its fine. Fired about 50 so far- no problem.

What is the big concern?
