This is not exactly an AR-15 question, but I have recently come by a box of military surplus 7.62x54 ammo that the local range marshal said I couldn't shoot there because it is steel core armor piercing ammo.  Is this ammo legal to own in Illinois, or should I find the proper way to dispose of it and save myself prison time?

7.62x54 ammunition is not designed to fire in pistols, therefore it does not fall under the category of "Armor Piercing Bullets" under Illinois law.

It should be treated the same as M855, Shoot it!
