7.62x54 ammunition is not designed to fire in pistols, therefore it does not fall under the category of "Armor Piercing Bullets" under Illinois law.
It should be treated the same as M855, Shoot it! |

Also, many people confuse ammo that has steel-jacketed bullets with steel-CORE ammo. The former is not AP, the latter is.
