In the somewhat near future I would like to get a Colt 6921 and have a gemtech bilock welded on to make it 16". Are there any dealers out there who are able to order the rifle from Colt, perform the welding of the flash hider and then remove it from the NFA registry?

Is there a particular reason (lower receiver rollmarking perhaps) why you want a factory complete 6921? You can always get a 6921 upper, permanently attach a Phantom flash suppressor, the drop it on any of the newer Colt lowers without the additional hassle of trying to get an SBR delisted.

Well, it really isn't very difficult to get it delisted. A complete rifle would be nice, and the M4LE rollmark is worth $500 more.

Although finding a Colt lower and a 6921 upper would be fairly easy I guess. I believe the 6921 sells for $1100, $1200 (Cheaper than the 6920 at least). I just imagine it would be cheaper to have a SOT order the rifle, bilock and perform the welding and then remove it from the registry.

Otherwise I have to find all the parts separate, pay shipping on each part, get the upper to a smith and then pay for a transfer on the lower. I bet it would be more expensive to do it that way. The 6921 is a basically a factory M4A1 sans the autosear hole/auto parts, correct me if I'm wrong.

Pretty much. The barrels are slightly different as well, with the 6921 being thinner under the handguards.

Where are you seeing 6921's for those prices?

You can, depending on the type of NFA item (MGs are a no-go).

A 6921HB has the same barrel as an M4A1. A 6921 has the same barrel as an M4.

Sure can.  Pete in NH (Legal Transfers) was offering it for Colt 6933 lowers.  You just have it removed from the registry.

Google. Since the 6921 is an NFA item I imagine the demand isn't very high like it is for the 6920 so it should be easier to get at a more reasonable price.

I don't think you're going to find a dealer with one in stock that will sell it to a civilian for those prices

I have seen - recently - the 6921 available for $1,395 - 1,695.

If it were me, I'd go the complete lower route mentioned above, and mount your choice of uppers.

Or just get the 6920. The difference in the lowers is very subtle
