Colt has never made an AR15/M16 magazine. ArmaLite (the original company that was a division of Fairchild Aircraft) made a bunch of their own mags in the early early days, and any of those few that survive are collectors items.
ALL of the 20s made during the Vietnam era were made by Universal Industries. The last USGI-contract 20s were made in 1971, with most being made between 65-68. In the 80's, Colt's new mag supplier, Okay Industries, made 20s for Colt using black plastic followers instead of the alloy followers used in USGI 20s. The Cheat Yes the alloy followers are better then the green ones, when it come to the 20 RD mags. |
