I was planning my next upper and I am going to put it together myself.
I am considering the YHM flip up front sight gas block as an option, as my plans include the use of an optic this time around.
Any first hand use knowledge is appreciated.
Thanks.

I use one, so far so good. Locks into place tight when flipped up and has held zero thru about 500 rounds. I used some loctite on the threads.

I have one, works great. I put a match front sight post in it too. I use the magpul buis. Zero'd one time, haven't touched it since.

I have one on a rifle build and it's held up well.  A set screw added would be nice, but I don't plan on sticking my sight in a vise and twisting to see if it moves.  Maybe not as smooth or refined as a couple of the more expensive ones, but for the hundred plus dollars, I'm good with with it.

About 3k rounds and coming up on six years with my YHM flip up.  This is a old build that just gets shot and sometimes cleaned.  It's starting to look dated.

My dad purchased a fixed front sight bushy, we replaced it with the yhm front sight gas block works great! Good way to replaced fixed front sights and is a good option for any build. It is very similar actually to the front sight/gas block that came with my colt 6940 actually

Have two.  Both just fine so far.  Both with the "HK style" guards, which I prefer to the "A2 style" guards.  Less chance of mistaking a sight guard for the sight during a snap shot situation.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc.
