Seems like it would useful for a long range zero with the reticle and a point of aim/point of impact sight with the larger dot for CQB distances.

I have one on a Yankee Hill flip up sight. It's the one with the plan cross hairs. It really helps me zoom in on the target.

I've considered the third option: the dual reticle with finer hairs in the middle. I've read some folks with eye issues (as I surely will be one within not too many years) have difficulties seeing the standard version. However a previous thread here showed the plurality of folks not pleased with the busy sight picture. Hope the above compilation of hearsay is helpful.
