I saw that Cabelas is now carrying the American Eagle 5.56, 55gr. FMJ ammo in bulk quantities for a great price.  Has any had any experience with this stuff?  I have a Smith & Wesson M&P15T and it is picky about what ammo it will cycle well.  The best that I've found so far is the PMC Bronze ammo.  The only thing that I don't like about that is that it is Korean.  I'd rather buy American ammo to shoot out of my American gun.

Are you SURE about that?  To the best of my knowledge, Fed AE is .223.  Link?

By the way, I have used a lot of it and it's great shooting in my ARs.

I'm pretty sure.  If you type in Item: XJ-216663 on Cabelas' web site it will show you what I'm lookin at. Thanks

yeah its AE Tactical ammo 200 round boxes they want 102 bucks per 200 rounds, but my local gun store is selling 400 rounds for 189 and I thought they were a bit high in price.

ATK has been loading LC XM193 in black boxes under the American Eagle brand for some time.  Some conspiratorially-minded folks think it is slightly different from brown box XM193.  The black box seems to demand a premium in price over the brown box for some nonsensical reason.

Bottom line: It's very good, very overpriced ammo.

If your M&P doesn't cycle well with standard quality American brass-cased ammo, send it back to S&W.

I can get cases of AE for $340 and so far my AR has loved it. No problems what so ever.

Over the years I have shot 3 or 4 thousand rounds of AE.
No problems at all.

Federal 9mm runs well in all of my weapons.

I am not going to pay the price they are asking for that stuff now however.

+1

My M&P hasn't found an ammo it doesn't like, including Wolf.

I have used this in my AR very recently and it is good ammo.  I got 500 of 5.56 for about 180 bucks
