I want to thread the barrel of my Oly 9mm for a flash hidrer, and the Colt flash hider I have has a 1/2 x 36 thread. Only problem is, I can't find a 1/2 x 36 die anywhere. Anybody have a source?

Take the barrel to your local machine shop, and let the fella cut the threads concentric to the bore.

All the shops around, somebody should be able to fit it in the schedule somewhere.

OR, you can thread your barrel 1/2 X 28, and bore out a regular .223 FH to fit 9mm. I had Adco do that to a Phantom.

Not the best pic, but you get the idea.

If you order 9mm barrels from Oympic, you can specify 1/2x28 TPI....

Seems like boring out a regular FH to fit would be the simplest and least expensive way to go. I've already got the tools available to do 1/2x28.

Just make sure you get the hole big enough for 9mm, and be sure not to stick a regular .223 FH on your 9mm.

9mm 1/2x28 f/h's are $10 at brownell's, $8 w/dealer discount. Given the cost, probably just easier to buy a new one, unless you got a ton of 5.56 f/h's hanging around.

Looks like to A2 style is out of stock, but A1 is available. I'd imagine, if ordering nothing else, it would qualify for their cheap USPS shipping as well.

I have that flash hider sitting here (I get dealer prices at Brownells). It's threaded rto match the Colt pattern; 1/2x36, not 1/2x28

Hmm... I got a 9mm 1/2x28 f/h a while back - I thought it was the garrison one from brownell's, but I could be mistaken. I should still have it laying around somewhere - if I can find it, you can have it.
