I was watching "SHOOTING USA" and they had three gun matches going on, one guy on his AR15 had his reflex sight on his right side rail. He explained that when he shoots far like 50-100 yards he uses his primary scope (mounted up-right) and for targets less than 50 yards, like 10-25  yards uses a red-dot reflex sight mounted on the right. He actual turns the rifle counter clock-wise (ya know the gangsta lean), this is a fast pace shooting so I completely see the use for it. Anybody else use this method?

One of our local SRT team members has an Eotech mounted on a YHM 5 rail 45 degree offset mount.  This puts his sight slightly offset to the right on his weapon.  He keeps the weapon canted slightly left b/c he says it fits his armor better.  The mount has performed very well.  We did a lot of "drop testing" before giving it the go ahead as an optics mount.  He is using a CCH as a BUIS.

I once put a couple compact acogs and an Aimpoint on the sides of a Crane SPR to augment the Leupold LR M3 with Aimpoint lit reticle.  Of course you need the back up compact ACOG on the rail on the front scope ring to make sure you have adequate back up.

I wish I could find the link but there is/was a company that sold an adapter that attaches to the  buffertube or something so you could rotate the AR 90 degrees without moving the buttstock. The website even had a video of some guys shooting with it. looked very lame., but they had optics mounted on the side as well.

I put my TacPoint on the bottom rail!  It works great!

Isn't the optic mounted on the side the preferred mount for shooting out of a car window during a Drive-by?

Any possibility of getting a pic of that setup?

It will take some time, but I can probably get a pic.  Thanks for your interest.
