Hello folks.

Does anybody have FF RAS mounted on their standard 20" rifle? I have seen a lot of FF RAS on their carbines, but not on rifles with standard front sight post and so on. Is it because FF RAS is somekind of overkill for standard rifles?

Thanks for the pic. That's right...you have to remove the whole FSP to install FF RAS. But I have seen them on 14.5" with FSPs. Man if KAC came out with M5 RAS II...Gotta wait for their URX thingy then.

Hahaha, dang man, I thought it was just me and those dang Bushmaster pins!!!!

I just did a Colt, my plan was to save the .625 sight base-but after I beat it to death, I used a hack saw and chisel!

yeah I think we should put a posty warning people not to get BM barrels with FSB installed if they want to install FF RAS, DD handguard, or other FF handguards that require the removal of it. As if that weren't hard enough, the handguard cap gets in the way of the dremel cutting wheel and has to be cut along the way. Damn shame, I needed a good FSB for another barrel and I wasted two on the BM barrels.

I don't feel so bad now! Was I ever pissed!

Dang...no FF RAS for me for a moment then...at least I don't think I can do it without wasting FSBs since all of mine are BM [:(] So thats why you put KAC flip up instead of standard FSB [:D]

Yeah I beat on mine for about 3 hours and then sent it in for removeal and re-finishing. Those BM pins are machine pressed in (I swear) anyway.

I was talking to a buddy, he said the trick is to take a big flat punch, larger than the pin and use a big hammer for the first wack or two. Of course this was after the fact.

Above statement is true. You´ll need also real bad ass attitude too. Works every time. Those Bushmaster pins are really tight but I have managed to take them off every time without damage to the gun or FSB. MN

I spent altogether 4 hours cursing "god damn motherf*cking piece of sh*t" while cutting two FSBs open, does that count as bad attitude? [bd] I'll try a bigger hammer and drift punch next time. On one of my Colt barrels, we did do that. We tried a few different sizes hammers and punches to no avail and finally gave up. I put a KAC rail mounted front sight on it because with a rifle length FF RAS on a carbine barrel, it's about the only way to have a front sight, or Troy Industry's new flip up front sight if I had it.
