20 rnd mags came in boxes not bags. (As far as I know)So I would look for that or no wrapper at all. The ones that I have are all colt. I have had these for a long time and not sure if you can still find them like this.

Actually, Colt 20 round mags did come in 4-packs, sealed air-tight in brown paper wrappers. Inside the wrappers were two packages of two mags wrapped in silver vapor phase inhibitor paper. I have unpacked several of these packages that were dated 1967 and 1970, and even one dated 1963 on the outside, and the magazines were all in absolutely perfect condition. The 1970 dated mags had 5.56mm marked baseplates, while the earlier ones had .223 marked baseplates. Hope this helps,

They also came in 7 packs (configured like the 4 packs).

Gazing into my crystal ball.
It depends on the manufacturers. There could be if a manufacturer decided that the demand was there. I wouldn't be surprised if the original dies were still in storage somewhere. |

I like 20s. I hope someone makes them. Wasn't there some 20's made shortly before the ban that were not a straight body? They looked like chopped 30s? With the body starting to curve just before the bottom of the magazine?

I believe that something only like 2000 of them made it out before the ban. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there new USGI 20 rounds mags available for LEO/Military??
If so, it's reasonable to believe that they'll be available to civilians if the ban dies. |

Colt had a big run of 20's made for LEO sales in the late 80's, using plastic followers instead of the aluminum ones that the USGI-contract mags had. They may have done another run since. But that would be the only source. The military still has millions of 20's, many of them totally unused, but hasn't purchased any since '71. And we won't be getting any of the military ones, since Klinton ended the surplussing of guns & related items in '97.

Colt still sells 20 rounders with it's LEO guns and Bushmaster offers 20 rounders for LEO sales.

I just picked up what looks like the 20-rounders in the picture at the top of the thread. They may not have been NIW (NIB), but they sure as heck were a close second.
The gun store had them advertised as "20th anniversary" edition or some such. Same markings as in the picture, except stamped 223 instead of 5.56. The store in Austin (TX) had about 15 for sale. |
