Quoted: Hey Troy I am confused. I have a 24" SS bull barrel with a 1/8 twist. Everything I read (the ammo facts) leads me to believe that a lighter bullet will fly good to about 80 or so but I would get lucky to hit paper at 100 yards.

You're confused because you're kind of backwards on the twist/bullet length issue. You'd have the problem you mentioned if you were shooting longer rounds out of a SLOWER twist, like a 1:12 or 1:14, because they would be too slow to stabilize longer bullets, and the bullets would veer off when they slowed down. In your case, you are using a twist (1:8) that is FASTER than ideal for the short 55gr bullets. While you may see a very minor loss of accuracy at 100 or 200 yards, the major effects of overstabilization aren't seen until you're out beyond 400 or 500 yards. At those ranges, the bullet wouldn't be nosing over and following it's flight path, but would maintain a nose-up profile, as shown here:
This leads to inaccuracy at distance, loss of velocity, and poor penetration.
The other problem with overstabilization is that it can spin apart thin-jacketed bullets (typically light-weight varmint bullets).
Again, you should NOT be seeing problems at 100-200 yards.
