Recently was given 150rnds of .223/5.56 ammo. Trying to find out what it is. Case is stamped with NATO cross, and the letters RG followed by the date? 88. Was packaged on 10rd strippers. Appears to be military surplus. Has sealant(red) around primer and is FMJ. Any ideas who makes it and the grain? Thanks.

It's British. Made by Radway Green. Should be 62 grain

Thanks for the reply. So, I can assume this stuff is okay for a RRA 16"?

It should be fine in that rifle.  Slightly underpowered to U.S. G.I. specs., but not so much so that you would really notice.
