What say ye about 62gr. .223 "American Eagle" (Fed.) factory ammo... ?
I can buy cases of the stuff at a good price...
Should I...? Given that all the cheap Winchester seems top have evaporated I just might have to

I have shot about 3000 rounds of the 55 gr and it shoots fine. No malfs and 3 MOA groups from a 14.5" 1/7 with no magnified optics.

I use a lot of Federal Amrican Eagle  62 gr in my Colts with a 1:7 barrels.

It's great ammo, and I would pick it over Winchester anyday

Federal ammo has consistently left a bad taste in my mouth through 3 AR15s and an AR10.

Primer pockets that would loosen their primers and spit them all over my fire control group and receiver.

My problems existed a good 3-4 years back and maybe the problem has finally been cured but to hell with Federal and the problems I had with them.    Their comercial brass is pure shit for reloading as well if you intend for them to be in AR15 destined.

The only thing that bears a Federal name that I will fire is the XM193 and that is it.

Federal is my first choice.  That is what I train with for pistol and AR.  Shoots good, clean, and accurate.  Never had a malfunction.

To your question, I have no experience in the 62g AE.  Shooting the 55g AE all day long and no problems.
