I shot a 10 round group at 100 yards last range trip to test the accuracy of AE's new loading advertised for M1A's.  The ammunition was pretty accurate for the cost.

I shot the group from the prone off bipods with my R700A5.  For reference the ammo shot .5 moa lower than the factory Hornady loading of 168 OTM.  The "stray" round was not a "flyer".  It felt the same as all the other shots and I was surprised to see the one round impact .6 MOA away from the center of the group.

Even if the vertical deviation of that single round proved anything,  I'd still buy some to test in your Precision AR10's.  It's a good load for the price.

ETA: I didn't realize this picture was so blurry,  oops.  That's a nickel next to the group lol.

Please don't buy it all!  I want a couple more boxes first.

DANG.  Nice shootin'.

So would you say this pretty much IS FGGM 168gr repackaged?  Or how would you compare?

Do you have any FGGM 168gr history in that same gun?

No I don't.  It's a different load for sure.  The headstamp says,  "FC 10  7.62- M1A"

For reference my R700A5 shoots .6 MOA with 168 OTM Hornady Factory loads.

Ok, while we're here , do you have any history with PRVI 168gr Match in that same gun?  Or any experience with it at all?

I'm looking for an affordable alternative to my FGGM's.... looks like the M1A OTM stuff may be an option...

Thanks for the complements,  the gun does all the real work though.

I haven't tried PP yet,  I really want to try some.  I've heard other people say it wasn't that accurate.  Seems like I saw a thread about it lacking.  If I pick some up I'll test it and post a 10 rounder.

BTW:  This isn't a picked group.  I shot ten rounds only and that's them.  If I shoot it again and get different results I'll post those or update this thread.

So this ammo is supposed to be for M1A's but the group shown is from a bolt gun, right?

And good shooting too...

Yeah.  It's advertised as for M1A's but it's a pretty solid 168 OTM loading.  Especially for the price.

It is definitely good stuff.  There are a pretty good number of places with it in stock, so shop around for the best deals.

A&E 168gr OTM is ny favorite ammo for my Armalite AR30 bolt action rifle.

I have had numerous 5 shot groups of less than 1/2 inch at 100 yards.

My best group is .270".

My overall average group size for the last thirty 5 shot groups is .854".

My rifle loves this ammo.

It does not, however, love the PRVI 168gr Match.

It averages about 1.5 inches for 5 shot groups.

I had expected it to do much better than that, which is why I regret having bought a 1000 rounds of it.

Since it sounds like you've been shopping, what is the best deal you've come across?

SG Ammo has it at $159 for 200 rounds plus shipping

However, the best deal I found was at Scheels Sporting goods in Sparks, Nevada.

They were selling it for $14.95/box.

Cableas for 16.99 with a 20off120 coupon which puts them around 14.13/box.  Instore pick up to save on shipping.

That coupon deal is active through today though.  They come and go, maybe you can catch it another time if you don't look at his thread today.

However, GMM308 is also on sale right now, so I have been buying that instead with the current coupon.

You have a link to the 168gr american eagle? I can't find it on the site.

Also, I was just thinking.

Anyone have any idea how close this ammo is to actual m852?

I am thinking pretty close as the box is marked 7.62x51mm and it's using a 168gr otm bullet.

In my loaded M1A with a TA11-E I'm regularly getting an RCH under 1 MAO with this round.  Excellent ammo.
