Myself?

I figure I've been lurking long enough.

Last week at the US Army Advanced Marksmanship Course. M16A2 in hand.

A slightly older, yet more impressive angle :)

Great boards guys. Funny thing though... AR15.com is blocked from all official army computers. Seems odd to me considering that it's our battle rifle. God forbid a soldier log on here and learn something about their rifle.

Welcome. Try the back door from work and see if you can get in. Either jobrelatedstuff.com or castle-hams.com

But they don't block "weaponforums.com" which is the same site as "ar15.com". Go figure.

Most be local command for I'm getting it in Iraq and Fort Campbell (well last time I was there in Jun).

Welcome to the board from another soldier.

welcome, and thanks for chiming in.

looks like that A2 is all business.

How did you rank in the competition? Yardages?
I think I saw an American Shooter episode that showed a competition that was from 100, 200, 300, and 600 yds (or meters)

That's out there quite a ways, huh?

Aren't there like several 'copies' of this site with various domain names? I could have sworn I came across a few where the domain names made no sense.

All that info is in the sigforum post :)

The furthest we shot was 300m. Open sights.

And as far as back doors, I'll remember jobrelatedstuff.com. But it's usually not a problem for me to get around. I have 15mb/s DSL in my korean barracks room, so I don't worry bout the work computers. Yeah, I said fifteen megabytes per second, you read it right :) But we're splitting it three ways and the fastest i've ever gotten was 2mb/s

Welcome... I finished the Squad Designated Marksman course in May of this year (the one the article in SOF mag talks about this month... different class though) There we shot to 600M regularly, we didn't have a KD course so we shot it on the MG range here in Riley. The farthest I shot there was 800M with iron sights on an M16A4 (I was one of the only ones to hit at that distance) The best part of the whole class was that it was taught by SSG Lew Tippie...

I'm a Radio Operator in the 4-7 CAV. I am not a fan of the CAV, fwiw. Sorry all you tankers and scouts. :)

I requested MP when I re-enlisted,when I was told there were no slots, I requested  Infantry. When I was told there were no slots, I requested to be inserted into an Infantry unit as a radio operator and go to Iraq.

Needless to say... I ended up as a radio operator in an Armor unit in Korea. Not pleased with that. And I bitch about it every chance I get ;)

I'm damn proud to defend my country though, and I'll eventually get home. So no worries.

The 1-506, 1-509, 1-503, 1-9 Inf and others were all just sent to Iraq. They had a one month long training exercise before I left, which the 4-7 CAV were the OPFOR(opposing forces or bad guys) for. I was setup in the 4-7 cav TOC. So I didn't get to play with the rubber AKs or put on the MOUT gear :(.

Wow, that's half the infantry bats in Korea.  The FHCs (Fucking Head Choppers) need to watch out now.  Those are some of the best infantry units in the Army.
