[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Aimpoint M3 and LaRue mount

Does the protective rubber cover that comes on the new Aimpoint M3 interfere with its mounting on a LaRue Aimpoint mount? I have not seen one in person and cannot tell how it would mount with the rubber cover in place. Maybe it is not intended to be in place when mounted. Thanks for any input.

You can' t put the rubber cover on the Aimpoint and then put it in the mount. Supposedly you can get it to fit over the Aimpoint AFTER it is in the mount. But after seeing pics of them, I can't imagine what good they will really do.

This is correct. IMHO the rubber cover is just about worthless.

ONE USMC CUSTOMER REPORTED THAT IT SMELLED SO BAD HIS WIFE MADE HIM KEEP IT IN THE GARAGE.

BUT, NOT SO FAST!

I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE EARLIER ONES (WITH "SPECIAL SWEDISH LUBRICANT") WERE IDEAL FOR THOSE LONG ISOLATED DEPLOYMENTS. KNOWING HOW RESOURCEFUL TROOPS CAN BE, PERHAPS THIS WAS THEIR ORIGINAL INTENT.

I WOULDN'T THINK OF PUTTING ONE OF THOSE NASTY THINGS ON MY GUN, THOUGH.

I've got two of the rubber covers and neither one is on my optic!
