Just ordered a Adams Arms piston kit from MidSouth shooters supply for $299 plus $12 shipping. The price includes the one piece bolt carrier. That is a $100 saving on the group buy that was offered. I wonder what the difference is other than the MidSouth kit does not include the replacement gas key?

I have a dedicated adams arms gas piston upper and love it .

Yeah I ordered a Carbine kit today too. $313 and change to my mailbox, I see they just raised the price by $39. Am I missing something here this seems like too good a deal compaired to other venders I've looked at.

I emailed them back and forth today concerning the higher $339 price that's showing up now. They couldn't explain why the online price went up but they assured me that if I called the order in I would get it at the $299.98 price and sure enough I did. Total price shipped was $309.82 and it will be here in 2-3 business days.! Carbine version is showing low stock now so order soon.

The one time I don't wait and the deal gets better.
Link Posted: 10/16/2009 6:33:39 AM EST
How are they selling these so cheap i mean $300 off MSRP
Link Posted: 10/16/2009 11:31:11 AM EST
it must be the introductory price since they just started selling the kits is what i would guess cause it is a hell of a good deal and it changed me from buying a cmmg when i could get the AA for the same price basically

This sucks! I just bought the kit WITHOUT the 1 piece BCG for $249 from the AR15 Group buy. I feel robbed.
Link Posted: 10/16/2009 6:04:16 PM EST
SpringAR, your not alone. I paid about $100.00 to much with bolt carrier.
Link Posted: 10/17/2009 1:31:51 AM EST
Yeah this is definitely a time that waiting would have been better....

What he said x2 kits.

I just wish I could get their pistol length kit for that price. Midsouth doesn't list it on their site.

Probably because that's all they're worth.

This is sort of exciting.

Not exciting because I could've saved $90 buying this way instead of the two group buys.

But exciting for two reasons. The first is I bought directly from Adams Arms, so now if there is a problem I don't have to go through midsouth to get it handled.

Also exciting because a friend of mine wanted to get one at the group buy price but missed. I've just called him and left a message. I'll hit him hard with it when he calls me back.

And at this price I'm considering buying another one in carbine length in case I end up wanting another one.

Edit: I just bought an extra at this price...

Same boat.

Glad I saw this thread. I passed on the group buy because of carrier. I just ordered one mid length, and had second thoughts and replied asking if they could increase quantity to two.

I got in on the group buy and waited for the group buy price on the bolt carrier. Wish I had waited for this great opportunity!! Why didn't you advertise MSTN??!!

Check stock. They are all out of carbine and rifle length.

I want a pistol kit at that price.

I called and they assured me that $339.00 is the correct price, $350 + change to my mailbox. still not a bad price but I think the increase was because of demand on these. Not to sure I'll be doing anymore transactions there.

I think they screwed up in the pricing department.

I ordered one mid length last night, then had second thoughts and sent an e mail requesting that they change order to two. It had already processed so I called back this morning and placed order for second one. The price was still $299.

So, what's the real price... $339.00 or $299.00???

When I brought item up it was I think 339 or 399, when I added it to cart it came up 299. WHen I called to order second one the young lady said $299 plus shipping, which brought it up to around 312.

Last night i clicked on it and it was $299 in the checkout box. When I tried it now it was $339. So I guess they fixed/changed it today.

Ah, the old bait and switch!!

Got my second kit today and except for the lack of a gas key it's just like the one I got during the group buy. Got the flu or something over the weekend so I haven't a chance to try the first conversion. Age has it's limitations.
Link Posted: 10/20/2009 12:00:50 PM EST
Well, I broke down and ordered the kit from Mid South @ $339.00. They're on backorder, but at least the deed has been done.
Link Posted: 10/20/2009 4:33:49 PM EST
my kit arrived from midsouth today and the install is pretty much a breeze, hardest part is removing the FSB

That is still cheaper than what we paid AA for it with the "great" group buy.

The group buy to make that kit 250+140=390.00

DAMNIT!

I'm unhappy.
Link Posted: 10/21/2009 6:46:29 PM EST
sry its understandable, but atleast you still got a good price on a great product.... put 200 rounds without a hiccup today!!!

250 +140 + 30 (2x shipping at 15 a pop) = $420 (+ good ole sales tax 25) $445 vs 312 or 350 from Midsouth. Man, I feel like they used 40 grit with no lube . Oh well, win some loose some.

Got a quote from mid south tonight by email for a pistol length kit. $499.

I'll pass.

I ordered one of the carbine size and it was priced at $339 and was listed as in stock. Question: How hard is it to remove the FSB and get the replacement perfectly lined up, so it doesn't shoot left or right?
Link Posted: 10/23/2009 10:13:43 AM EST
To remove FSB, drive out pins. Look and you will see one side is smaller. That is the side you hit to drive out.

As far as aligining, I was working up a new build, with a rail , on a flattop receiver. I used an old detachable carry handle to ensure excellent alignment of carrier and rail, then did the same thing, gas block to rail. Worked like a charm.
Link Posted: 10/23/2009 11:16:18 AM EST
Thanks for the info on FSB removal and alignment. Your method sounds pretty foolproof. Again, thanks.

I wish AA had steered the Group Buy to one of their dealers.

Seems we could have saved around $100 or so versus buying direct if you bought both the conversion and the carrier (and only one shipping charge) .

I've never worked retail, but it is usually cheaper to go directly to the supplier instead of middlemen. Not the case this time.

Still a good product though.

Well, I gotta say that Midsouth should have advertised their sale.
Link Posted: 11/4/2009 9:38:41 AM EST
AA should do another group buy for slightly less with 1piece bolt carrier included. That is not fair.
