I have a snap cover for the rear of my TA01 but need something to protect the glass in the front. I want a killflash so it would be great if it doubled by protecting the glass. Would this be a good idea or should I get the bikini cover and take off the flip cap rear sight or do they make a cap for the front at all?

I have a killflash on the front of my ACOG and it does a decent job of protecting the glass.  The honeycomb is not incredible robust - but if offers some protection.

I would rate the bikini cover as useless.  I took it to one field problem.  I had it dummy corded down - which turned out to be a good idea as it constantly popped off.  It is not secure vs. any maneuvering or activity with the weapon.

I had a killflash on a TA11 and it worked fine for my needs.  If there is a lot of blowing dust and sand I would consider something else.  YMMV

Are you sure you had the front inserted into the scope, or were you using it with a Killflash?
Unless using with a ARD, it works great and never comes off my TA31.

Ya it would probably never get hit and i dont live in a dusty area so a killflash would probably do a good job.

I wasnt very impressed with the bikini cover that I looked at because like stated above it slipped off just in the store.

LOL.  I forgot to mention that.  Protects the glass from damage - does little or nothing against dust.  It was a little rainy, a little dusty, a couple months back - when I  took the killflash off for mainantence I was amazed I could still see through the scope.  I.E. a little dirty.  ;)

As for the bikini - YMMV of course - I think it would work fine if you were just taking your rifle back and forth from the range.  I'm still going with useless for the field.

You guys sure they had it installed correctly in the store (and without a ARD)?

It goes like in the photo below, I have often seen it with the front turned the other way, but it will "slip" off easily like that.
Correctly installed (and without an ARD) it is very secure and if the "finger tab" is oriented up, you can still use the irons on an A2.

Butler Creek scope covers will work over a KillFlash however you must cut the ears off the end of the KillFlash and the front (objective) Butler Creek scope cover must be cut to match the shape of the objective / housing on the ACOG. If you would like to see a picture I can e-mail you, I have given up on trying to post pictures some time ago.
Good luck
