Hey guys, let me first off say I'm a newb.  I'm learning this platform and making plenty of mistakes along the way.  I now know that using grease is not preferable on the AR, so I'm not looking for comments on that.   I have a BCM chrome-lined upper that I shot for the first time recently (put 60 rounds thru it) and I just realized that my feed ramps probably had some shooters choice grease on them which very may have gotten on some of the rounds before they were chambered.  I've read some threads saying that grease in the chamber can cause pressure issues and I'm just looking for some input on what, if anything, could have been damaged.  Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't be worried about any damage. Clean the grease out/off of whatever surfaces it may be on, if it hasn't already been blown off by shooting, and use proper lubricant next time.

I wouldn't worry.  If you're still concerned, grab a chamber brush and scrub away for a little bit.

This. Run a boresnake down the bbl, wipe out the chamber and locking lug area as well as the ramps, be done with it.

Any pressure issues you may have had are now behind you. Clean it and go shoot it. You're gtg.

Alright, thanks guys!  Time to go put some more rounds through her.

To be honest you still have a lot to learn, but you are doing good, keep at it. BTW, there are several places on the AR platform where grease can be used, and it can work better than oil. Read in the cleaning and maintenance section.

Thanks!  There's a lot to learn.  I just hate finding out I've done something that could hurt my weapon.

I have used a very thin coating of wheel bearing (high temp) grease on my lugs for a long time. No problem, in fact the locking lugs still look new after many rounds. However, I don't let it get in the chamber.

Right, I'm not sure what I was thinking.  I'm guessing there was some grease on the feed ramps which may have been picked up by the rounds as they were chambered.  Rookie mistake, hopefully it doesn't cost me.

I don't mean to keep this thread unnecessarily long but if overpressure occurs from grease in the chamber, is that overpressure occurring in the chamber itself or does the pressure force go backwards into the face of the bolt?

AFAIK greasing a round does not increase chamber pressure.
It can raise backthrust on the bolt to proof round territory.
Unless you got a crap bolt I don’t see 60 rounds with a little grease on them being a problem.

50,000 psi should clean it out for you :)
