Monarch is a private label for Academy stores, you won't find it at any other stores under that name, regular Monarch is Barnaul Brown Bear lacquer coated, and Monarch Brass is Privi Partisan made in Serbia I believe.

Is the Monarch any better or worse than Wolfe? I have a family member that can get the Monarch for like %25 off the retail which is $2.77 per 20ct box.

The regular Monarch (Brown Bear) is lacquer coated, I like the polymer coating on the Wolf better.

A guy in our department got a part time job at academy working like one or two days a month just so he can get the 25% discount!

The monarch rounds I picked up a week ago didn't seem to have any coating...it looked like just plain brass. Cost was about $6 a box.

I bought a bunch just before it stopped being cheap. 300 down range, some reloaded twice (going to toss, I'm afraid its too soft for more). Can't find chrono data, but I seemed to remember it running slow but it has been reliable. I went back and bought 1.2K. Its not that accurate (3-4moa), or powerful, or beautiful to look at, but it goes bang reliably. For the price they want now, I would look elsewhere.

They have two boxes blue box and green box.  Blue was/is $2.99 a box.  The green was $3.99 a box and is now $5.99 a box.  The blue box is coated and the green box is brass.  I shot the green box it was alright, but it was hell to clean my rifle after that.

The brass cased Monarch is supposed to be Privi Partisan from Serbia, they also make Wolf Gold.
