Just bought a used M68 mount and I cannot unscrew the fastening screws to insert the cantilever spacer. On the bottom of the mount, where you acccess the screws, there seems to be a clear reflective glue (I thought it was wet oil) around the head of the screw. Is there any tricks out there for removing a glued in screw, I do not want to ruin the mount or the screws. Could a gunsmith drill these out or should I just sell the mount and spacer? Any help would be nice.

If this ever happens to you try the hairdryer for 10 minutes, have someone hold on and give it all you got... eventually it will come loose. Thanks again for the help, hope this helps somebody else.

First, try heat it up, heat will melt the glue or even Lock-tite! Use a small lighter if you have one. Hope it help

I use a hair dryer on the highest setting to loosen blue Loctited screws. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the excellent ideas. How long do you have to hit it with the hairdryer? will you actually see the glue melt?

soak the whole mess with Break Free and let it bake in direct sunlight.
