I got a call from the toy store today that a knife I had
ordered had come in . So of course I had to leave work
early and go by and pick it up

When I got there , then shop owner was tagging
a trade in 16" Beowulf upper on a Bushmaster lower with
a swan sleeve and Leupold M8 4x scope .

I actually think it was a setup because he knows me
all too well , so after the usual haggling and banter
concerning his genealogy and sexual preference .  I ended
up walking out with my new knife and this :

When I got home I did the typical finger , fondle & Lube that is
mandatory for a new addition . During the breakdown I noticed a
strange rattle in the buttstock . So I popped it open and found this :

So my good deal got better by about a dollar I'm guessing

The only downside is that he didn't have any ammo for it .
So It's off to the other local fun shop tomorrow morning to stock up .
Then I have to go to work and write payroll before I can go
to the range

That's what I'm guessing

Because it sure as hell isn't a money stash to buy ammo
for this thing .....  Damn , talk about sticker shock .
It makes 10mm look like a bargain

It sounds like you don't reload.  Start immediately.  The Rainier plated bullets work great in the 'Wulf.

If you like shooting your 10mm, definitely reload for that too.  I blast alot of 10mm in both my Oly and my S&W 1006 .  You will save so much you can stuff your buttstock with silver dollars instead of pennies.

Actually, they could be proverbial "notches in the gun" from everyone who felt like giving the previous owner their "two-cents"

A coworker once found a VERY old looking love letter written in what another coworker said was (I believe) Portuguese in the trap door compartment of the stock that came in his FN FAL parts kit.  That was pretty neat, but the pennies are a heck of a lot funnier!

I thought all good shooters kept pennies in their buttstock.

When I'm bored I'll take a couple out, toss them in the air
and shoot a hole through each before they hit the ground.
Hmmmm....Certainly I'm not the only shooter on the site
that does this???

OK . first of all I dumped the pennies .

Then I spent next day driving around trying
to scratch up some ammo . I found 1 stinking
box of 334gr JHP locally for $38

WTF , I had to buy it because I wanted to shoot
the damn thing . So off to the range I went today .
Of course it had to be crappy day with snow/sleet
but fuck it , I'm going no matter what .

I cant set up on the 100yd line because the pipes for the
target stands are filled with ice , so I set up at 75 and fired
7 rounds out of the precious 20 I have .

Hmmm  , that's not too bad for the first time out with a new
to me weapon I'm thinking . Considering that it's snowing so hard
I can hardly see the target through the scope magnified snow , but
damn . I can see the big orange blobs on the Visishot . This aint no
friggin 22

OK , now I want to see what these big slow bullets will do
to something other then paper . Now if you look real close
you will see a Locust tree that fallen from the top of the berm .
It's about 14" in diameter and is pretty much alive and Locust
if you know it is a dense stringy wood . So loaded up 6 more
rounds ( Can't shoot it all in case Zombies attack before I get more ammo )
and shoot the truck of the tree .

Yeah I know its a crappy pic , but I was too damn cold by now to
walk back and get the camera after going out to retrieve the target frame.
But let me tell ya . Two week ago I put 200+ rounds of 62gr 855 into
this tree trying to cut it in half . None of those round made it through
center of the trunk and out the other side .

Not only did the big HP's make it out the other side , they also
blew out a crater of wood you stick 2 fists in
I was definitely surprised by the amount of energy this low
pressure round carries down range , and how much fun it
was to shoot .

This is gonna get real expensive if I don't start reloading

Hell  I know I got brokebacked ...... Dry even .

But it was the only box of ammo in a 50 mile radius and I wanted
to shoot the weapon . Since then I've picked up a case of 200
for $218 shipped . Problem is , after today I only have 80 rounds left

You have to start reloading.  I have my .458 down to the 40 somenting cent per round range with 300gn JHPs from Midway.  Now I spend twice what I used to but shoot 6 times as much ammo.  I used my wife's theory that if it is a bargain or on sale I should buy even more of it.  Think of how much money I have saved buying 500 at a time!  It's almost like having a second job. I could go broke saving this much money.
