Did anyone else see the AWB story on ABCs Good Morning America this morning? The LAST thing that the media is interested in is facts. You would get the impression from GMA that the AWB prohibitted ALL  assault weapons from the public and that with the experation of the ban that the streets will be flooded with criminals carrying AKs and M16s shooting up the place. They also tried VERY hard to give the impression that ALL police were against the experation of the ban. Of course they had to throw out the question "Why does anyone need one of these guns for hunting?" (or something to that effect). The black woman police chief made the statement that shooting one of these rifles requires no skill (her fat ass ought to try high power competition one time.)

Got to go.. I need to take a blood pressure pill.

Isn't there a way to stop the media from spewing out false statements as facts?  Granted it may be after the fact, but this is rediculas!  Why don't firearm smart lawyers, and rich firearm supports stop this, hell even gun manufactures.

Diane Sawyer makes me want to puke..!!! She would not even let the lady from the NRA speak.  "I guess she is not going to answer my question" she said.  The problem is Diane, your question was based on a lie you stupid bitch!! But you didn't want to entertain that thought or allow anyone to explain it to you.  And who hires a police chief that does not know the difference in semi and fully automatic. She kept saying, these guns "spray" "mow down." Ignorance is rampant in this country.  Is it not interesting, how they never have small town police chiefs giving their views.  It is only the ones in the big cities with political ties that are interviewed.

Diane, you could have worked for the press during the Hitler Administration.  No one better for the job!!!!

I am going to have to pray in a little while for forgiveness.  Sorry for the rant

Writing letters to the network does no good, I suggest writing letters to their advertisers. Hitting them in the pocketbook will surely get their attention!

Deborah Norville is scheduled to have a piece on AWB Sunset tonight.  The promo referred to "both sides" so at least maybe there will be a debate or someone to correct false statements made by whoever the anti- she has on.

So my friend at work comes up to me and says, "Hey, I heard on the radio you'll be able to buy AK-47s soon!" I had to explain that you already can buy one and that most of what he heard was bullshit. In the end, he got it. But was surprised at how misinformed the supports of the ban are. I'm trying to do my part and talking to anyone who will listen about the "logic" of the AWB.

Editorial in the Dallas Morning News today. No mistatements of facts, just a call for Congreess to throw off the shackles of the gun lobby and renew the ban that Bush promised he would sign.

That is what we all should do, it is a pain in the ass to take time out of our busy day to educate co-workers , but it must be done.

Moveon.org had a "story" posted yesterday saying that the ban had cut the use of these "murderous" rifles in crimes by 66%, that on Tuesday 18 year olds will be able to buy AK-47's again and other hogwash attached to a petition to "save the ban."  The interesting part of their plea is their assertion that it's up to the president, that congress already has the extension ready to go and are waiting for his approval.  That is one of the biggest over simplifications of our government I have ever read!  It is more of a postioning statement, in my opinion, to use the ban expiration against the president.  It will be his "fault" even though every credible study has shown the ban to be either ineffective or unconclusive.

The simple way to "beat the ban" is to simply ignore it. Non-complyence worked for Alcohol Proibition and it works for other things too. I NEVER actknowleged that AWB because the government has no right or power to ban anything so the "law" that was passed in '94 was null and void from the get go.  As long as we keep following these stupid laws they'll keep passing them, when we ignore them they'll get the message that we're not going to "play along" and not waste their time passing anymore unconstitutional laws.  Build what you want, when you want, as long as you don't kill anyone with it don't worry about it.

I'm so pissed words can't describe.  I am tired of hearing the lies these scumbags tell to renew a worthless piece of legislation.  The anit's are totally lost and don't care, they've got alot of the public and all the media duped.  Gun owners had better take action of we'll loose them all.

I'm 100% with you on this one.

Haven't given a shit about it, and never will assuming they do it all over again.  If they want them so bad, they'll have to wait until I run out of ammo.

I have the intent of joining the USMC as a reservist over the next summer, assuming my back heals in time.  My reasoning for doing so, is to defend my country, and more specifically, defend the constitution.  This includes the 2nd amendment, and mark my words, I will defend it.

This whole ordeal would be so much easier to deal with if the bullshit could be toned down.  Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

Alot of people don't like firearms until they need one.  And by then, it is too late.

Can anyone else here tell I have a rather difficult time composing my thoughts when I get this pissed off?

My blood boiled watching it but, gotta admit it was a classic performance by Diane Sawyer.  I've seen the other lady before (the one with the police uniform on) and she's just a riot.

Warning:  Personal opinion here.  I don't understand why the NRA spokespeople don't just answer the answer the question of "Why does anyone need an assault rifle?", with, "Easy!  Collecting, Target Shooting, home defense."  Why is that so hard to answer?  By evading the question, as stupid as it is, the NRA spokesperson looks like she's trying to hide something...and it allows Diane Sawyer to say, "Well, I'm not going to get an answer from you on that."  I would think the NRA would understand how to handle the media better, given that they are hostile to gun ownership.

Just a few more days...

What alot of people have forgotten is that the government works for us, the U.S. Taxpayer. They bend to OUR will, we don't bend to theirs.  The Congress, Senate, LEA's, Fire Dept.,all Public Employees work for us because they draw a paycheck on our tax dollars. WE are the Boss, not them, so why in the fuck do we take so much shit from them all the time???  When I deal with a government agency I want service damn it. I've had to call the BATFE a few times because of this or that, they don't intimadate me, they are there to serve me, plain and simple and when I call them up that's what I want, service. I want answers to questions and if they don't know the answer then they need to give me a contact number where I can find out what I want to know.  The few times that I've talked to the BATFE and the FBI I've had prompt, friendly service from their agency and I expect no less.  When we can stop hiding in fear and stand up for ourselves we'll all be better off and isn't that really what America is all about, standing on our own two feet and being a man?

It is good to finally meet people that feel the same way I do! I have often thought that if a law is obviously unconstitutional than we should not have to follow it. I think that might be my attitude with the next ban.hug.gif

You should have seen all the crap we put up with on the local Chicago news stations yesterday. Daly had a special press con..  just for the awb matter, some lady from the Il handgun control crap sat there and lied for about 30. mins about all the blood shed we would see in the months to come, luckly a Il rifle assc. Rep was there to shut her up. You would be amazed at how misinformed people are here in the chicagoland are when it comes to firearms, firearms here in N. IL are almost a taboo subject.

I really hope that when the ban expires it ends up just like the CHL situation. Everytime a state passes a right to carry law, the media and anti's all start screaming about murder and mayhem.  "blood in the streets!" they scream. And then what happens? NOTHING. Thousands of law abiding citizens get their permits and don't shoot anybody.  Now, thousand will buy no-ban rilfes and not shoot anybody either.

Yes, I hear you all on the misinformation supporting this ban.  The BIG THING we all need to do should a ban EVER get proposed again is to make DAMN SURE that we write all of our reps to make sure its NOT CALLED an 'assault weapons ban.'  That phrase is a buzz phrase which elucidates images of mad mullahs discount klashnikov market on the sunny shores of Beruit and most certainly not what the ban banned.  The ban name was a PR move to strike an emotional cord that blinded people to the facts and reality of the legislation.  Again, just something to keep in mind when writing your rep.

Just write your Senators and Congressmen. Tell em that if they vote for a re-authorization, you'll be happy to start a move to reward them just like we did those 60 or so who supported the orginal piece of shit in 1994. We voted their butts out of office and gave the Republican party it's first simultaneous control of the White House, Senate and House in a very long time.

Hell, it just might (read that as not quite) be worth getting it re-authorized if we could unseat another 60 congress idiots and a presidential candidate from the leftist,  I mean socialist, no wait thats democtatic, nah that's UN-democratic party. Hey, that's what it will be if kerry gets elected. The UN-democratic ie United Nations democratic party.

I also just realized that maybe this lunacy the left is pitching could have a positive effect. They're building up the country for mass murder and mayhem. About six months from now, when the streets aren't running red, maybe the uninformed will realize (they'll need a little help of course) that the gun grabbers fed them a line of shit and won't be as gullible next time.

NO, that's giving the uninformed WAAAAYYYY too much credit. Here's hoping anyway.

I suspect the hurricane story trumped the AWB piece.  Maybe it will air tonight, but I'm positive yesterday morning MSNBC promoted it for that evening.

When the ATF comes to haul me away, can I count on you to give them a call and demand prompt service and let me go?

Let me put it this way, if every gun owner in this country built up a Sten could the BATFE and the SCOTUS put all of them in jail?  I doubt it.   Also, this would send a message to law makers and the government that we feel the NFA of '34 is an unjust law and we, as American Citizens don't want it anymore. If the government won't follow the Constitution and wants to do the peoples will instead(not what the Founding Fathers set up government to do, that's why we have a Constitution) then we should force our will as gun owners upon the government, after all, That's what's happeing to us with all the anti-gun peoples will being pushed upon us, right.  Until we stand up and force the government to listen to us we'll have to keep putting up with laws that we don't agree with and are Unconstitutional to boot.
Remember here folks, WE are in the Right where are firearms rights are concerned, the "gun grabbers", no matter how well intentioned they try to act, are Wrong in taking firearms, all firearms, out of the hands of law biding citizens.   Go a head and build you an FA, as long as you keep it to yourself and don't kill anyone with it I really don't think you'll have to worry about your door being kicked in at 3am, just don't go telling anyone about it. I bet there's more "illegal" full autos out there then we'd be willing to admit to.

It's too bad that every gun owner in the country didn't understand what the 2nd. Amend. really ment, then maybe they would vote for and pass a bill so we'd be able to build a Sten if we wanted to.

The headline on my local paper the Daily Tribune was "Assault Weapon Ban Expires! Rifles that will be able to spray bullets with the flick of a finger will be for sale again. Thinly disguised killing machines have no place on local streets"   What bullshit! They even had the ban date wrong. And it said nothng about these weapons be sold in postban versions for the last ten years.
