I am 4826. Also e-mailed it to a few folks like G. Gordon Liddy who might be able to put it to a much bigger audience, we’ll see.

I signed it but just wanted to know one thing.........why is it so hard to use the goddamn spell check feature when you are done with a letter? I think a competent letter would be much more effective in getting our point across. For those of you that think spelling is overrated you had better think again. Most anybody, including myself, will never take anything seriously if the spelling is all fucked up.

I've said this a million times before, but it bears repeating... Billsmith007, your desire to toss the AW ban onto the ash heap of history is admirable, but you need to WATCH OUT FOR MISDIRECTED, TIME-WASTING EFFORTS. Internet petitions are useless! They make folks think they are actually doing something when they are not. It's a false sense of accomplishment. We need to focus on the stuff that works!!! POLITICIANS ONLY CARE ABOUT VOTES AND MONEY. In-person visits, phone calls, faxes, and snail-mailed, typed, hand signed letters are the way to make your opinion heard, because politicians know that if you expend this much time & effort, you and your family will also vote & contribute to their campaigns (or not)! Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but them's the facts...

It's encouraging to see more & more gun owners who realize that this is not just a hobby or pastime that we are engaged in. It is a struggle to restore & preserve our birthright as free Americans! My only point is that we need to direct our energies & resources towards where they will do the most good! Sure... signing an on-line petition is fine & good if it is the icing on the cake... a throwaway gesture or afterthought, if you will, to real, substantive political activism! The potential problem arises when those amongst us, who may not be politically astute, or may be new to the game, mistake clicking a mouse for "doing their part"! They go away feeling good & fulfilled, never realizing that the real job of influencing politicians is tedious, relentless, time consuming work! This struggle of ours is far too important for us to get bogged down in trivial (and arguably pointless) endeavors like on-line polls & petitions. Hell... even the vast majority of the E-mail sent to our elected reps. gets deleted unread by office interns. You guys have to trust me on this one... At best Internet petitions are useless. At worst, they are a hindrance to, & a distraction from the real methodology by which the legislative process is effected! You're all pointed in the right direction... you just need to adjust your course a little bit!
