I can only get 20 rounds in with out the follower sticking.  I loaded and unloaded one mag 5 or 6 times and it get a little better, but feeding is lack luster for the first 4 rounds and you can hear the spring snap as the follower unsticks.  Is this normal?

ETA The first ones I had isse with were AR Stoner branded ASC mags , I got 4 25 round ASC branded ASC mags from 44mag.com today and they suck also only want to work with 20 rounds.  What brand of 6.5G Mags do not suck?

Might try sanding the sides of the follower a tad, but there might be junk in the inside of the mag, too.

Ill try that, I have 2 they are both the same.  If I cant get them to work, ill cut them down to 10 rnds.

I noticed one of my 5rd mags was really a 4rd, so I disassembled it, only to find a 30rd spring that hadn't been fully extended yet, with just a small portion of the wire separated to appear like what you normally see.  The remaining stacked spring acted as a block.

With AR-Stoner, you never know what you're going to get.

I just ordered several 6.5G and .50 Beowulf mags from Alexander Arms....anyone know if they are good?  I read somewhere that AA checks all their magazines before shipping, is this true?

I think that they are probably the best best for magazines.

PRI 6.8 mags are supposed to work, too, but I haven't tried any.

I would have ordered from Alexander Arms but I heard they were out of stock

Did you try sanding the follower?   Also did you contact ASC?  Im sure they would be covered under warranty.  I have a bunch of 6.5 mags most still in the wrapper.  I am slowly building a grendel, but I might just scrap it and get a bolt gun if the mags are hit or miss.

Did you disassemble and clean the mags?  Mine had some type of preservative inside that was sticky and impeded smooth function.  I also had one mag with a burr on a feed lip.  That was an easy fix.

Man I wish I would have known about that. There was no indication of a back order situation when I placed my order with AA on Dec 18.
After 2 weeks I get an e-mail saying the mags are on back order and it will be at least 4 to 6 weeks.

We have magazines moving through all the time and while there is a tightening of supply it is not that bad.

The 5 round magazines allow a total of 5 rounds on the gun for the states that demand this for hunting. Some say five in the mag, some say a total of five and some are not specific.

Thanks for the info, Bill Ill try and back order some soon.

I ordered several mags and a fair amount of ammo from Alexander Arms on the 4th but no notice of shipment yet.  Hopefully,  since they say they have them it won't be much longer.  I chose AA because I knew what I got would be good to go first time around but the wait is killing me lol.

If I stick to 20 or fewer magazine capacity, will the 6.5G and 7.62x39 mags interchange?
I have a couple 30rnd ASC mags for the 7.62x39 cartridge and they are well made and feed reliably. Though I have to admit, I don't recall actually stuffing 30 rounds into them.   I need a few more but it would be cool and save some $$ if I could use them for both

I'm using 6.5G and x39 mags interchangeably w/o probs,  only 10-15 rounds though, that's what I hunt with.....

Same here.  My 10 round x39 mags function fine in my Grendel.

My ASC 6.5 Grendel mags were also sticky out of the package.  I disassembled them and cleaned them inside and out with CLP.   Now the ASC function as smooth as my C Products mags.   My C Product 5 round mag holds 4 in the mag (plus 1 in the Chamber), 10 Round C Products hold 9+ 1 and my ASC 10 Round hold 10.  I can only load 14 in my C Products 17 round mags.  I can only load 25 in my ASC and C Products mags that are the same length as 5.56 30 round mags.  Fortunately all my mags function as  well as 5.56 and it doesn't bother me about te reduced capacity compared to 5.56.

I have AR Stoner 10 rd mags and 25 rd mags and haven't had a problem with either. Probably 150 rounds have been fired through them.

If you trim a few mm from the follower foot that contacts the floorplate on the C-Products they'll comfortably hold 10, 15 and 25 rounds(don't know anything about the 5 rounders).

All my mags work fine to-date:

5rd CProducts
10rd CProducts
17rd (when only loaded with 5rds-they should have used a curved body like AA spec'd, so AA refused to carry these.)
25rd CProducts

I have seen one mag that a guy sent along with his rifle to be Cerakoted, that had a bent right feed lip, and needed to be tweaked.

The followers stick on almost all of my 6 25 round ASC mags.  I believe 2 work properly and 4 do not work but with limited rounds.  When things settle down I will send them back to ASC.  I would be afraid they would be lost now.
