So with the price of ammo going crazy, I'm really careful to collect all my brass so I can reload it. I've been using the brass catcher from midway (the mesh bag) & it works ok I guess but was wondering if anyone had a better mouse trap?

I'm curious on this one as well. I've been considering getting something but I'm not sold on the mesh one from Midway.

I have the .308 version, it works pretty good.

I took the mesh catcher and then added zip ties to the sides to squeeze it so it stayed up better at the mouth..   Before the mesh would collapse and not let the brass go to the bottom of the bag..

Its not 100%, occasionally ill have some brass get caught at the top of the mesh - but tipping the gun to the side will resolve that

If you shoot from your vehicle it keeps the brass from getting stuck down between your windshield and dash.  So I've heard.

I picked one up from Tactical Brass Recovery to use on all my ARs and I love it. It's easy to take on and off, catches all the brass, it's easy to empty and folds pretty flat for easy storage.

Ive been thinking about these too.
Do they weigh much?
Do they get in the way?

I have 1 from Tactical Brass Recovery 2. I like it a lot. It is easy on/off and getting the brass out is easy as well with the bottom zipper.

They're light (when empty of course) and they don't get in the way too much. There's a small gap between it and the side of the rifle but fear not - every piece of brass that is ejected goes in the bag.

I have a Caldwell brass catcher that works well.  It uses velcro to attach to the hanguard.  I haven't tried running and gunning with it, though.  It might wobble too much for that.

For my Mini-14 I have one of those rigid ELM models, and those work well too.

my boys got me the basic bag from Midway for Xmas ( Caldwell i think )and it works fine. only about 500rnds so far but i like it. seems to fit better after using a few times. easy to dump. its pretty full after two 30 mags but has not dropped a case yet. i don't notice it when I'm shooting!

Do you use those at gun ranges? or just on your own property?

Don't the range owners get pissed because they can have and resell the brass YOU paid for?

just curious...

I purchased what is called the brass SHARK, it's a polycarbonate brass catcher and attaches using the picatinny mount.  I read quite a few reviews of the mesh catchers not working very well so I figured I'd give this a try.

Let me know what you think of the Brownells bag, its half the price of the Tac Recovery bag.

I built my own. It works great and was cheap.

Do you have any pics of this? I was thinking it wouldn't be too terribly hard to make one from scratch. I used one of the mesh ones a buddy of mine has, and wasn't a huge fan of it.

Everyone is brass hungry, the range and or other people at the range have asked me for my brass.  I primarily shoot steel cased ammo so the joke's on them when they come begging for my brass.  Sure, have it I say.  Good luck with it.

Anyhow, doesn't look very lefty friendly.  Really need to have your own property to shoot on and then I don't see why you would be using a brass catcher, just pick up whatever you've shot.  Easy enough IMO.

I've been using one of these for awhile.  It is the best catcher I have found even if it is a bit pricy.

It was built for iron sights. Now that I have a scope I need a new attachment design.

There are a couple of tarp and mat systems out there as well, which work when you're at the bench.  The mesh Brass Magnet tarp is very cool, and much bigger if you're doing some limited movement drills or have different platforms that throw in different areas; but more expensive...
