Can I get some honest feedback on this one. It is as follows:

Forged milspec lower
ergo grip
Colt mag block
VM HY-Tech side charging upper
Jarvis match grade 9mm barrel at 6" threads 1/2 x 28
Free Float tube
The raw aluminum part is a thread protector and kind of neat. Saves threads in case a can finds its way here.
Holo sight on the way

I like it. I was thinking about something similar for my next build. How does it shoot? Any more pics?

I have more pix and better but only one loaded with this post. Can I load more here?

Your other picture:

ETA: I think you just had a typo in your original post. You can add more than one image to a post.

BTW, why the long buffer tube? I think it looks sleek except for the large tube sticking-out the back.z

I have been unable to locate a pistol type buffer / tube. bought some at 40.00 each and they were pretty much what I already have. If you know where to get some feel free to direct me. thx

www.model1sales.com/ has them for $45. I know a few people have had trouble with them, but I've heard others say that they worked just fine for them.z

As one who normally shuns AR pistols, I have to shift gears now and say that looks deliciously evil!

Forgive my tired brain -- what's the logo?
Link Posted: 6/7/2005 7:23:41 PM EDT
Thx for the info on the buffer tube. The logo is just a tribal spider design that me and a buddy dreamed up. We had to have something different and we wanted it to be different from my 1911 logo.

A pistol buffer tube will not work unless you do some mojo, i.e. you can't use the spring assembly that comes with it as that particular spring assembly works by fitting in the hollow of the .223 carrier, which a 9mm carrier does not have.

I believe one member of the board solved this problem by chopping down a standard buffer assembly to a length of 1 1/2" and then gluing the urethane thingy back on. The bolt could recoil far enough and he could still use the standard spring (I don't know if he cut coils off of it or not).

Hopefully the guy who did it will speak up, as I can't find the thread offhand.

As soon as I mill the bolt I have a side charger 223 M4 fluted I will post. I don't get to shoot much but I have fun building these. Thanks for your support and comments. I am not new by any means to the gun world but I am to the AR 15 realm. T

You should post this info in this thread ---> AR15 Pistol Picture and Information Thread

What did that upper run you? I just bought a stripped pistol lower, and what you have is what I had invisioned (minus the thread protector, but that looks sweet).

I believe the uppers are 150.00 from VM HY-TECH. I bought several at the shot show this year. I can tell you that they do not have any as of yesterday. I called them to order more and they were out.
Link Posted: 6/9/2005 6:01:40 AM EDT
Yes I do, I meant to make a more cost effective gun along the lines of an H&K.
Link Posted: 6/9/2005 6:02:37 AM EDT
It will be offered in a SBR version in the near future. My SOT is not valid until July.
Link Posted: 6/9/2005 8:02:39 AM EDT
Where did you get the barrel?
Link Posted: 6/10/2005 4:29:22 AM EDT
I have the barrels custom made by Jarvis. He makes several models of barrels for me. I am quite sure he can make just about anything you may want. He does have a web site as well.

How much did it cost you to build this?

yup... cut spring to 6" and buffer to about 1"... works well full auto or semi.

Is this something that you built for yourself, or do you plan to manufacture/sell these?
Points of interest:
Parts and price list (and sources of parts)
Kit package (everything needed, minus lower receiver)
Receivers marked "Pistol"

I made this for myself. I will manufacture them if there is enough interest. I have about 50 pistol receivers. Parts are plentiful for this as I buy them in quantity.

Just because. It is an idea to go along with the H&K but about 3000 dollars less. no other reason.

yeah..

Just wondering what's the point?

It makes a-hell-of-a-lot more sense than an AR pistol in .223 that's for damn sure.

As stated before, I was just trying to make something along the lines of the MP5 but 3000 or so dollars cheaper. What would any of us do with a MP5? Nothing just play around with it at the range. This is basically just a fun toy to mess with. T

Kewl! I like it! I need it! I've been looking for an excuse to get a side charging upper, as well as a AR pistol!

Please get a short buffer tube worked out, but I want one!

... the tube on your gun seems to be a full length tube... are you building something shorter?
Link Posted: 6/19/2005 3:11:52 PM EDT
Yes, thx to the nice people of this forum and their advise I am currently working on a shorter tube. I had something that worked, full length, and went with it until I could figure out the rest. (I had quite a few people wanting one of these) Now I am working on perfection for the shorter buffer. I just want to be sure it is perfect so new owners will be happy. Nothing is worse than a new gun that doesn't function properly. T

Thanks az-gunner for the pics. Now whats with the super duper thick thread protector? Extra Bling?

Link Posted: 7/21/2005 7:36:36 PM EDT
Extra bling is about it. It looks better than a skinny barrel sticking out of the free float. I also have SBR'd it. Used an M4 6 position stock. The fat a** thread protector is now finished to match the gun. I am thinking about making a run of 100 of these. Barrels and receivers are on order but that quantity takes awhile.

Are these Spike Tactical lowers and builds? Spike (Mike) does nice work and is always reasonably priced. Mark

The lowere are from my shop, yes this is one I did with spike. T

Tag....nice work.
Link Posted: 7/25/2005 12:25:50 PM EDT
Well, I got bored today, so I reached into the parts closet and voila!

Garrison Mfg 9mm upper
Hahn blocks modded to take slotted Sten mags
Trijicon Reflex II
GG&G BUIS
Stag lower (registered as a pistol here in PA)

The 9mm parts came with one of the M16's I bought, and since I only have two M16 lowers and six M16 uppers I thought I'd give the short 9mm a home for when it's not on a 16.
Link Posted: 7/25/2005 1:23:20 PM EDT
They are fun aren't they. Mine has been run on a 16 lower and was more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I did SBR it though. Made a little more sense as an entry gun. Keep up the good work and shoot LOTS. T

Whoa.

What kind of upper is that? I know I've seen them before, and thought them a poor choice for 5.56, but now on my recent 9mm build.....

Info? Price? etc? Please?

E.

My side charging 9mm uppers complete are 650.00 shipped. They truely are awesome. T
