Hello,
I found a really good deal on several guns from a local paper but have a question for your guys.. One guns is an AR M4A3 bushmaster 16.5" but the dude says it has a collapsible stock that is PINNED.. This tells me it was made during the ban.. Now can I remove the pin or can I put on a new collapsible stock or ir the stock welded on? Is there any other things I should worry about with this format sine it was make during the ban, any limatations as to what I can do, like mag capacity or flash suppressors?? Thanks in advance! I'll post some pics of the new toys:)

The last pinned stock I looked at closely was glued to the buffer tube, pinned through the adjustment rail thingy, which had no holes drilled for adjustment, and had a fake release lever. I could probably make it adjustable with the mill, but it's easier to spend $45 or so and get a new stock/buffer tube and spend 2 minutes changing it out. Make sure not to launch the buffer detent ;)

The stock should be completely removable, the only thing that was changed was the ability to adjust.  I haven't ever modified a pinned one, so someone else will have to answer that.  It would probably just be easier to replace it with something else.  Try the CTR, it's pretty nice.

Just because it was made during the ban doesn't make a difference.  Unless your state/city has some type of AWB, you're good to go with a hi-cap mag, flash suppressor, bayo lug, etc.

Save yourself the time and hassle of removing the pin  and get a removeable stock and that should be it. Removeable stock run around $50 for a Milspec looking one to $300 for a VLTOR or LMT SOPMOD.

The buffer tube does not have the position holes for the stock and you'll need the detent mechanism to put on the stock itself to make it adjustable.

$550 shit thats excellent.Hell you could get a new barrel only assembly.."im assuming its a postban barrel as well"and the new telestock assembly and still be less than a new rifle.Pk firearms and eagle in Colorado have telestock assemblies .You just have to decide commercil or mil-spec diameter of the lower extension or tube.

If your gonna eventualy go Vltor or some other stock get the mil-spec tubed assembly...if not commercial will do although with a Colt made mil-spec assembly or LMT,CMT the tube should be a forged one.The stock you can get for $70...if you decide on a barrel its only a $245 investment total..$800 for a new carbine is still nice and you can sell off the old parts. The barrel for say $100 and the stock for $30 or $40 and then the complete rifle costs $700.Nice deal you got for everything

you could have the brake on the barrel taken off for like $50 and put on your own then its only a $130 investment $680 total.I know randall at AR15 barrels does the work and cuts barrels down to.Hell you could have it cut down to 14.7 and permanently attach an A2 hider...or 14.5 with a phantom.

everything you need and then some.  You should have an extra buffer, and buffer spring. Plus the nut and lock plate.

$300 for a VLTOR?

both post-ban colts i have, the receiver extension is not drilled for a collapsible stock. just buy the CMT collapsible stock kit (extension, stock, spring, buffer, castle nut, staking plate) they go for like $80. The VLTOR's go for like 140.
