Is is legal to add a sling to an AR-15 Pistol?  For example, a Bushmaster Carbon 15 Pistol  or Oly Arm's?

Yes. AFAIK you can have any type of sling mounted anywhere. You can even have a bipod (actually saw a pic of a bipod on an AR15 pistol, didn't look as dumb as you might think).

You just can't have a forward vertical grip. otherwise it would be an AOW.

What's an AOW?  Any other weapon?  What does that mean/entail?  CLass 3?  Fee's and fingerprints?
