Looking for an AR-15 22 long rifle upper so I can practice standing slowfire indoors in the winter.  Does anyone still make them?  I see that DPMS makes complete rifles, but I need only the upper.  Also, is a Ciener conversion kit the way to go?  I noticed the twist on a dedicated 22 is 1 in 16 while my AR-15 Colt is 1 in 7.  What will this do to the accuracy? Please advise.

A bunch still do. I have the Bushmaster 16 inch, very accurate, but I've had it for a while. If I were to buy today, I go with the Bushmaster 20" that's now available, couple bucks more but it seems worth it.

DPMS sells a .22 upper only. Several outlets have them. Cheaper than Dirt is one of them (or was). 1/16 is the optimum twist for .22LR. 1/7 will not give as good a performance. It might work well up to 50ft or so, but will start to spray them beyond that.

I called DPMS and they told me that they quit making them because they were going to do a major redesign of the .22 Long Rifle Upper.  Go figure.  So I am still looking.

Cannot find any for sale.  All seem to be sold out.  Anyone have any connections?

I just got my CZ V22 upper from Model 1 Sales.  The web address is www.model1sales.com  I called them to make sure it was in stock before ordering.  Very friendly, helpful people, and they shipped the same day.

Oly has the M261 conversion kits listed on their site for $129 [ I just paid $175 from sarco ]. Try to find an old C MP C 12 twist upper with an excellent bore and have at it.

If you already have the tools to change the bbls then all you need is the bbl. I would make a plug to fit in the FSB to take the place of the gas tube either set up.
