I'm in the process of selling my current EOTech 512 to buy an Aimpoint.

Hard to tell. They kind of do, but nothing on ebay as is it seems. Check to see if you can get a product number or serial number and if possible, run it by aimpoint to see if it is a legit product. I have done this with a few eotechs that I have purchased on ebay

I just asked, I'm keep my fingers crossed. Thanks

Hard to tell.

I would ask for serial numbers and call the manufacturers to ask if they are not stolen. Since one of them comes a pawn shop.

Does anyone know about the boxes, especially for the M4? I have read on here and other places they may be white or printed which are real and the fake ones usually a "brown" box.

Those are both legit

That M4 is a steal if its brand new

Both are new. Thanks guys, i think I'm going to go for the M4

Figure if it's legit why spend $100 on the mount for the M2 when I could have an M4

Which is why I would be quite suspicious.

If you are buying an Aimpoint, you are buying an optic because it is reliable and will stand the test of time and at some point your life may depend on it.  If all you want is the "cool" factor of a RDS, buy the Primary Arms clone.  I can attest the PA sights are top notch for using at the range or for matches, etc.  But if you are going to potentially depend on it in a self-defense situation, I'd rather pay a few extra bucks and buy the real thing from a dealer where I knew the product was legit.

I wouldn't trust my life to eBay... just sayin'...

That's why I ask for more than one opinion because why pass up a good deal. If its real and costs half the price regardless of where it's from why spend more money, its not really a problem for me but why spend more than need be, IF it's real.. If it's made by AimPoint the reliability will be equal to all others costing retail.

I would assume that the M4 is fake beause of the bright white lettering. Look at the eBay pics then check out the Aimpoint M4 page. There are NO white letters on the real Aimpoint.

Just as an FYI, my unit just got some Comp M4s in, and they came in those same exact boxes, with the carry handle mount.

I've NEVER seen a Comp M4 for sale in packaging like that. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say those M4s are stolen .MIL property.

Tread carefully; CID, NCIS, OSI has a tendency of coming to get their stuff back, especially when its an optic.

No warrant ... no search Tell em all to to hit the road.

That's a hell of a nice price for a M4. I'd ask the seller if it's real or not. If they have a decent return policy and you feel like taking a chance then I'd be all over it.

The DoD isn't really an agency to play with. Someone would most likely be charged with possession of stolen Government property, if they pissed the investigators off.

Those Comp M4s are most definitely stolen. I bet my left nut. Optics don't go for civilian sale through DRMO, either........

Commercial sale Comp M4s do NOT come in that packaging, nor do they come with the carry handle mount. Those Comp M4s were sold to the .MIL at some point.

I was going to say the same thing, the lettering looks too white. But it could be just the pictures.

I compared the photo to the one pictured at Rainier Arms.

If the Comp M4 is a fake it is the best fake I have ever seen.

It is identical in every detail visible from the pictures.

The Comp M4 is real.

The Comp M4 is also most likely stolen .GOV property.

Isn't there AAFES Aimpoints that have the same boxes, mounts, etc?

There's also a SN pictured.  Too easy to call in and ask.  That or ask the seller for a SN so you can call.  If he's legit, he shouldn't have a problem giving it out.

If it came from the local AF base, it shouldn't be hard to figure out.

The same seller has sold at least a dozen of them beginning mid April.
If they are stolen, he's not being very discreet.

I think I'm just going to go with the AimPoint PRO from SKD Tactical after reading through this thread. Though the eBay M4 seems very inticing and I would love to have one dearly, the price for such a rediculously nice optic just doesn't sit well with me. So I'm going the better safe than sorry route, there's always time to upgrade down the road to an M4. AR-15.com FTW!

Where are the white letters on the M4?  They are definitely real... whether they are stolen are not might be in question but the CompM4 / made in sweden are in white letters.  Have you ever owned one bc they don't really give you a good pic on the Aimpoint website

I believe this is incorrect, as I have recently purchased one which came in that packaging, and with the carry handle mount, from a very reputable vendor.

Could be a new thing; if that is the case, I am mistaken. However, of the 3 shops near me that sell Comp M4s, they come in a box similar to the PRO.

By "messed up" you mean a few people landed a killer deal on a potentially killer Aimpoint sight? I would say so!

I got one
Thanks for the tip!

If history is any indicator, the seller will have more.
He's sold a bunch of them over the last 3 months.
