Hello, can anybody tell me the complete difference between the M16 & the Ar15?

if I'm right, AR15 has only Safe and Semiauto... M16 has Safe, Semiauto and Burst/Full Auto

On the homepage there are articles which you need to peruse, such as this one: http://www.ar15.com/content/history/evolution.html The main difference is one is "select fire" the other is semi-auto only, the M16 is the military designation for the rifle, the AR15 is the civilian designation. Here's a good reference site to read at also: http://groups.msn.com/TheMarylandAR15ShootersSite, with lots of good reading.... Mike

This is the generally accepted terminology today, but be advised both Armalite and Colt did produce Fully Automatic weapons called/stamped "AR-15" in the early days.
