Im looking to FINALLY get my long awaited and coveted first ACOG.

Im trying to decide between the TA01 and 01 NSN model.

I know the 01NSN comes with the mount, and the 01 just mounts to the carry handle. If i wanted to get a doctor type sight for the top of it, would I have to go with the NSN model? are there any options other than the doctor?

Any other imput you guys might have to help me decide?

TIA!

You should just get the TA31DOC, it comes with everything you want : TA51 mount and a Docter sight on top.  It's also a BAC model, its reticle is close to that of the TA01NSN, except the TA01NSN's reticle is slightly harder to use, being very fine and black during the day, and amber in low light.

I wish I could afford it bud, but $1400 is about twice what I have to spend :( I was hoping to upgrade later.

i like the reticle better on that acog too :/

$1400?  You need to shop around a bit
Save up and get what you really want.  If you do go with a TA01NSN, it may be easier to get a mount for an Optima2000/JPoint, JP makes the mount for it.  Daniel Defense used to, KAC does too I think.

I saw one at the show today for $1325.

Thing is i can get a TA01 new for $599 right now. I cant justify double that for a holosight..

Being on a budget, get the TA01NSN, then upgrade it to a JP NSN Mount and J-Point at a later date. Mine works great.

Pride Fowler

Maybe LaRue will make a mount for it, if they haven't already done the design on it

I think Ive actualy changed my mind, and am leaning to the TA31F. I like the chevron better.

I had somehat of a hard time focusing on the TA01NSN Reticle last I looked through one, but I did remember how much asier it was to focus on the TA31DOC ret.

I have an older TA01 & just purchased a TA31F about a month ago. I like the TA01 great scopes, however the newer models with the fiber optic & BAC are far superior. Well worth the extra $ IMHO. You can find some good deals on EE board if your quick & check it religiously. I may sell the TA01, but the TA31F ain't going anywhere

If you like the TA31F, then I suggest you hold out a little longer & get what you really want. You won't regret it.

Take care,
HS

Thanks guys I think Im going with a TA31 series for sure. I love the reticle on the Doc model but cant afford it. Dont like the donut, so i think i will go with the TA31F chevron model.

There is also the "A" model with a red triangle that is not so popular and might be cheaper.

If I'm not mistaken, JPoint makes a mount that is an add-on to the 01NSN mount so you can mount a JPoint to any ACOG...I never see it mentioned anywhere.

The mount has been made by many people, Daniel Defense, JP, KAC, specwargear.com, I'm not aware of the maker of JPoint producing a mount though.

I don't know, maybe its JP...point is, all ACOGs have that recessed ring near the eye piece, all you need is the top mount that is used with a JPoint on a 01NSN and add a little half ring to mount it on...then you are not limited to a 01NSN or 31 w/ cross-hairs to get a dot on top of the scope.

Am I not explaining that right?  I just found it interesting that everyone was putting JPoints on top of 01NSN's when the 31F is the big deal right now.  Sure seems to me like you can have both.

Find the $20 half ring with the big circle around it.

What does the 01NSN reticle look like? Photos?

I had the same thoughts and I got a TA01 and found a TA51 mount for $25 shipped.
I had to sell my eotechs because my eyes made the reticle double and it was very bothersome so I was going to get a C/QT but found a NIB TA01 for $599.
I realy like this scope.  It is way more glass than I need but it is everything folks around here say they are and more.  I like the full line red illumination on mine.  I didnt want to spend $800+ on a TA31F but those are really nice also.
Buy a GG&G accucam for it.  I love it and it was cheaper than a Larue and you can find the GG&G mounts.  M. Larue makes fantastic products but they hard hard to find these days.

you can get a TA01 and have grant mount a jpoiint on top at a later point too, he's got a great mount.
