I have a TA-44 on my colt 9mm. Anybody use a 3x compact (ta-50) or have a full size acog mounted on the carry handle? Any cheek weld problems using a full size acog on the carry handle? If possible post pictures. Thanks

Mike I ran with my Compact ACOG on my carry handled M4 for about 2 months. It works fine - you just have to get used to the higher trajectory (due to the higher sight over bore). I've since moved the scope to a flattop mount so I can share it with either my 16" LW or my 20" A4gery. I know Figgh4YourRights uses that setup (TA50-2) on his M16A2 clone and it works VERY well - a real Kick-A$$ setup.

Yes. I ran my TA-11 on my AR since '97. I tryed it on a flat top for a while but went back to the carry handle when I bought my M4 upper. Her is a pic. http://community.webshots.com/photo/29311265/64317003mLWxyw Only recently did I go back to a flat top when I built this rifle. http://community.webshots.com/photo/29311300/80908974dUQFJf The only reason was that I wanted the SIR #50. I went through a patrol carbine instructor school with my M4 with the ACOG on the carry handle. At three yards I had to aim for the hair line to put round between the eyes of the target. Past 10 yards I just aimed as normal and got good hits. With a gas mask on it is easier to use the ACOG when on the carry handle. In CQB it was easier too because I kept my head up to see what else was coming at me. I see alot of guys here getting too cought up in the hight of the ACOG when mounted on the carry handle. It did not cause me any problems for 6 years. When I get a compact ACOG I will mount it on my C8A1gery on the carry handle and not look back.

I bought a TA01 ACOG (4x32) about 3 years ago for 400 bucks....mounted on my EAGLE ARMS XM-177 clone. recently bought a RRA M4 wannabe, flat top upper, and mounted it on that with by way of a TA51 mount. it's one excellent scope, well worth the money IMO as for check rest, it wasn't intended to be a "sniper" kind of scope, but rather something for CQB...so it's not going to give you a good cheek to stock weld, scope sits a bit high in either the carry handle or flat top mount...unlike the cheek to stock rest you get by using the iron sights. if you want a good check to stock weld using the scope, you're going to have to get a check rest pad for your AR.
