Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - A3 uppers not all the same specs?

I recently purchased an A3 upper and it has T-marks on the rail and is gray in finish.  I plan to mate this upper to a YHM BMAS 4-rail handguard.  The rails on the upper and handguard were level.  However when I screwed a Bushmaster A3 upper and the YHM handguard together the rails didn't line up at all, off about 1/8"!
My question is what is going on with the height of these two uppers?

I just built my new upper with a YH FFT and the upper was a RRA, everything indexed fine.

No, not all of them are the same spec. Only Armalite, Bushmaster and Colt can be counted on to have an in spec rail.

ETA: Probably LMT also, but i have not checked.
