I would try  a local gunshow or www.surplusammo.com

For new production ammo (surplusammo.com looks like reman. only) just go to Wal-mart and buy the Winchester White Box (WWB) 100 rounds at around $11 a box.  I have yet to find a better deal on quality, reliable 9mm.  Unfortunately bulk is going to be a problem, but just a few trips and it'll easily add up to the numbers you're thinking of.

Gun shows are typically overpriced I've found and who wants to wait around for one to come to town before buying ammo?  Plus if that's all you're after you'll have to pay to get in, so add that to the price.

That is a $199 buy it now, plus $48 for shipping.  (rip)   That comes to $247 out the door, or 12.35 cents per round.

WWB at walmart is $11/hundred, plus tax.  Here that means $11.91 out the door, or $119.10/k, or $238/2K.... or 11.9 cents per round.

I would rather shoot domestic ammo than import.... typically.

Ammoman has Wolf for $119 shipped, same as WWB.

CCI blazer used to be a deal if you had a local Academy sports, but they went up to $4.86/box.... still probably the best deal going.

Wally world, although I've never seen an Acedemy Sports.  That's pretty cheap.

Wasn't someone selling blazer for less than $4 per box?

Try Georgia Arms west of Atlanta for bulk or Lancer Ammo.  Wolf and Blazer are good for plinking and good places to get it from are Natchez and MidwayUSA.  Or try Ammunitionstore.com.

Some folks praise or curse Ammoman.com, but that is another subject altogether.

If ordering off the internet, always factor in shipping for your total cost when comparing prices.

I have ordered tons of Blazer 9mm from Natchez over the past few years.

I just got 1,000 rounds of 115 gr. FMJ 9mm WWB at Wally World for the paltry price of $4.63 per 50 rounds ($92.60 per 1,000). You have to buy the 50-round box to get this price. The 100-round value pack is $11.97. So, buying two or more boxes of the 50-round is considerably cheaper, even though this is the exact same ammo. I guess the 50-round box is their loss leader.

They also had 100-round value packs of the WWB .45 cabiber 230 Gr. FMV for only $19.99. I "loaded up" on that too.

Wally World seems to be the best bet right now for 9mm. Wolf has jumped in price dramatically and to me it's not worth110-120 per 1000. Maybe be Natchez Shooters Supply might have something.

Just checked Natchez Shooters Supply they had Wolf for 4.69 a box so 20 boxes 1000 rounds would be 93.80 plus shipping.

I've been buying Winchester Q4138 9mm NATO for $69.90 per 500 round case (that's $6.99 per box) and that's up here in Alaska.  You should be able to get it much cheaper in the lower-48.  There seems to be a lot of it available right now.  It's 124 grain +P ball ammo.  It is loaded in lacquer sealed cases with a WCC headstamp and the NATO circle/cross.

Closeout or something?  The 50 rnd boxes at every store I've been to have been $5.97/box.

Walmart has excellent prices on ammunition. Winchester white box is reliable, accurate and effective ammunition for practice but is off sufficient quality to be used defensively. 11.50 for 100 rounds of WWB 9mm FMJ's is an excellent price. Walmarer also offers Blazer 9mm FMJ's in boxes of 50 and per 100 the price is similar to WWB, which is superior ammunition. They also have 250 round value packs of Remington UMC 115 grn FMJ's for 30.00. 300 rounds of WWB can be had for nearly the same price, but you get 50 extra rounds. They also sell 100 round packs of Remington 115grn JHP's, which is a great price for JHP pistol ammo. For SHTF, this might be a good route to go as they expand reliably and velocity is reasonable which equates to better lethality than a 9mm FMJ. The JHPs go for 13.00 per 100 rounds. They seem to have 1k+ of WWB and around the same of the Remington JHP's. If you have multiple Walmarts in your city, you could amass 3-4k between all of them. I try to buy 3-5 boxes of WWB 100 round value packs or WWB 147grn JHP's every time I go. If you order Wolf, Fiocchi or other ammo, the price could actually be more by the time you figure in shipping. WWB is excellent ammo, superior to other rounds in the price range and thier price is very reasonable. I have ordered ammo before, but I find it easier to buy WWB from Walmart as its cheaper/easier for me. The only exception has been ordering 2k of M882 from Ammoman.
