Hi guys, new here.

I have a Colt AR-15 9mm Carbine model 6450 that has an adjustable stock. I would like to convert this weapon to a fixed full size stock and am uncertain about what is needed to make the switch. I know I'll need a full size receiver extension and stock parts, but what about a spring and buffer. Will I be able to use the exisiting spring and buffer, or will new different ones be required??

Any help/input appreciated-----Thanks much.

Hello and welcome. Besides the stock itself, you'll need the full size spring, buffer, and housing. The adjustable stock spring and buffer will not work properly.

According to RRA's website you will need a CAR spring, 9mm buffer, and a spacer in order to use the car spring in the A2 buffer tube.

K.I.S.S. >>>>>>>>> All you need is a A2 stock kit..... tube, plastic extension piece that comes with the kit, stock, spring, and buffer. Use the std A2 buffer, will work fine, I know, that is what I run on my SBR'd 9mm/556 firearm, I kept the A2, fits me better.

Kattman, I have an A2 stock set that I took off of my Colt factory 6430, which was also a 9mm factory gun, so it is the correct set for the 9mm. I’m not really sure if there is any difference in the buffers, but the one I have came from Colt on a 9mm gun. What I am driving at here is if your collapsible stock is a Colt, I would be willing to swap you stock sets. I’ll send this to your IM also just in case you don’t get back to the thread for awhile. Let me know… -Matthew
