Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - 7.62x39 upper questions..........

Thinking about buying a 16" version on an AR47 lower.  Do 7.62x39 uppers use .308 or .311 bores?  What kind of accuracy could be expected with US commercial ammunition?  Has anyone loaded sub-sonic ammo for these?  I'm looking for something that will burn cheap surplus ammo for fun, shoot decent ammo accurately and could also be suppressed with SS handloads.  Thanks.

They use .311 bores (at least the Oly ones do).  Accuraccy is fairly decent, I was never disappointed.  Biggest problem is finding reliable magazines for the upper.
