China's Type 56 Carbine/ Rifle (SKS/AK) uses Type 56 ammunition (7.62x39mm). Using mostly Soviet designs, the only identification is the different color tips seperating the types of bullets. Following other Communist countries the color code was not changed except for API which was changed from black over red, to just black in 1967. The incendiary/ tracer uses a modified one piece steel jacket, not a 2 part jacket like the Type Z Soviet design. Two different drill rounds are shown, first #88 has a solid plastic/ rubber through out the steel jacket, and #83 steel core bullet is solder in place. wolfgang
