If the military does decide to beef up the 5.56mm will the Bullet have a HP? Since HP is a NATO No No?

If I was guessing I would bet that within another year or so that most of the front line units using 5.56mm will be using the Nosler 77 gr OTM. As long as the bullet isn't designed intentionally to expand or fragment, it's pretty much already been ok'd for use by JAG. The hollow point is there merely for accuracy reasons and has no effect on the bullet's awesome potential to fragment. It seems that this ammo is starting to become more widely used all the time and it's no longer just limited to special forces. I doubt that the 100 gr bullet will ever be issued. While it certainly does fragment well, it has the trajectory of a brick and is not suited to long range use at all. -Charging Handle
