Has there been testin on both match and ballistic tip 6.8 ammo out of barrels shorter than 14.5" in say the 11.5-7.5" range? Do we know the bottom floor for performance for velocity and the velocity of the bullets out of certain barrel lengths and what range those barrel lengths would allow adequate terminal performance to?

Brou, you may be right, but the way I heard it was a little over 100. I hope you're right though!

I also hear that it develops most of its velocity in 12 inches. This would even make the XM8 viable.

Yes but I want to know about barrels even shorter than 12" like the 9" variant of the XM8 for example..... or a 10.5" or 7.5" AR upper. I want to know what the ballistic tip bullets do from those barrels. Do they under penetrate? Not fragment? I want to know how much better the terminal ballistics are than the 11.5" and 10.5" guns used currently for CQB.
