Looks like I'm gonna have to talk to Warren soon. Any idea what his prices will be like?
So do AMEETEC's 6.8 uppers have M4-type feed-ramp cuts, or are they "a marketing gimick [sic] from Colt" for the 6.8SPC too?

Here's my thoughts on how to improve it:
Ditch that scope. If you must mount a scope, get higher rings and a better scope. Bead blast that muzzle brake.. It's too shiny, especially on that matte barrel. Get a brown VFG, to match. |
Geez, the Trijicon Accupoint is good enough to win Tactical division in 3Gun, but not good enough for this guy's gun?
-z |
The rail the scope is on is noticably higher than the flat top itself, so I would imagine the scope on that high rail with those low rings probably puts the optic to just about the same level as your irons would be. In other words, just about right. And the Accu-Point is a pretty better than average scope that has a lot of versatility. These are the only two functional issues you bring up and as stated, at least these two issues are both pretty functional as is.
All other issues you had a somewhat cosmetic and objective. Both of whcih can vary GREATLY from one individual to the next. |
It's a good scope and it's already on a riser. If you get higher rings, you'll have to use a chin weld. |

Agreed. The scope should not be any higher. It looks like it will be a little to high to have a good cheek weld already. The Accupoint is also a good compromise between a variable scope and an ACOG for somewhat quick use. |
The PREDATOR rail is already 1/2 inch higher cause it attaches securely to the flattop upper. I needed low rings otherwise the scope would be too high. This scope rocks. 1.25 - 5X. Good for matches and tactical applications requiring both eyes open. The production model is all black and some minor configuration changes. Feed ramps are gay and a huge marketing scam. It only helps when using select fire, which, we all know that the majority of the citizens out there are not going to have.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Warren |
I say again, ditch that scope.
Regarding height of the sights, if it fits, leave the height alone. I'm not sure I said this yet, ditch that scope! |
Nice rifle Warren and on that quote. |
Zak you are speaking CRAZINESS again!!! Taran Butler p0wnz yuo n00bs with teh akupiont! OMG H4X!!!1!11 That accupoint used to be mine, they are good scopes. I just had a hard time getting used to the long eye relief with my eye sight so I sold it to Warren. He seems to like it and be using it ok though. |
Dump the POF thing, the side charge upper, rings and the stock and you have the basis of a nice rifle.
Pretty cool. I love seeing more manufacturers getting behind the 6.8 SPC. Now, who made the barrel?
To buy a complete from the factory gun i would like the barrel and comp to be black ,FF rail system height thats ideal for acogs, and will co wit irons with EOtechs ,and be able to have more than one length barrel to choose from. That and ammo availability is all thats holding me back.
A flat-top receiver properly mounts both of those without the need for a fore-end rail system... just FYI. |
Ok, your opinion is valid. Just give us the reasons you don't like the Accupoint. {erhaps his intended purpose differs from your. Perhaps his experience with the Accupoint is different from yours. At least tell us why you don't like it instead of giving the advice of ditching it without giving an explanantion as to why. |
Personally, I'd prefer a barrel and comp to be green or brown. Anything other than black or bright and shiny silver. |
Pretty much my EXACT thought when I saw that pic. |
Scope is too low to the rail, other than that, sweet.
My scope is in high rings on top of an ARMS19 it sits perfect height. Regardless of the 1/2in rise out of the predator rail, that scope still sits to low(IMO). But if it works for you, thats what matters. |
Scope is NOT too low. It's perfect. Great for quick acquisitions with both eyes open during those quick tactical stages.
Geez you guys are picky! the color, the rail, the grip, the scope... I'm just happy there's another option for 6.8 besides a) Model1 Sales and b) the uber-tactical but uber expensive MSTN model. I mean, we all know that in the end, the optic, color, rail, etc. will be the purcher's choice, right?
If Ameetec keeps pricing in line with their current offerings, I'm quite happy and will be awaiting production to submit my order for AT LEAST a barrel and bolt, and since I would have used an Ameetec upper for the build, maybe the whole thing. I LIKE it... |
Moly coat the upper and lower to match the furniture and would be one sharp stick.
Hows yer head position with that scope? |
For a magnified optic, it is mounted much lower than military snipers use like on the SPR's, etc. The POF is higher tham 1/2", but even then, med. rings would be better for all round shooting, especialy if you don't have time to snuggle down and in with a very tilted head.

Smooth and quick and easy to use. |

Ok, a few technical questions not regarding the scope.
First, is the side charging upper reciprocating (does the charging handle move back and forth with every shot) and if so, is it possible to get the upper with a regular charging handle? Second, will the upper by itself without the lower? Third, is it using a midlength gas system or does it have a carbine length with a low profile gas block? Fourth, is the barrel turned down under the handguards? and most importantly...what's the price? |
1. Is that the predator rail thingy?
2. side charging... neat! 3. 6.8... neat! 4. how much? |
so, is it 1/2 or what? jack- it better not be .525 or something minor like that |
Side charging upper does NOT reciprocate with the action of the carrier. This model/prototype is mid length, but I think we'll go with carbine length after we test a few more models. Everything is looking good so far.
Here's Johnnie! Glad to see that you are back. |
I would really like to have the option to go midlength since all the Model 1 Sales ones are either rifle length or carbine length. I know the Barrett M468 uses a midlength but that upper costs more than most complete rifles. What I'd really like to see is a complete upper with the rail system and BCG for around $650. By the way, compliments on a non-reciprocating side-charging upper. The reason I ask is that one of the gas piston uppers out there (the name escapes me) uses a reciprocating one. That's just what I need, a big long metal rod going back and forth when I fire. It might work on a semi-automatic shotgun but not a battle rifle. |
Obviously, this guy has never had any experience with the Accupoint. |
I agree with all the above. Prefer midlength and hope to see complete uppers w/ predator rail for not-too-ungodly price. |
1695.00 for a complete Rifle! That price is outragous! Everone just get your self a Grendel and you'll save $$$$$ Bigant |
For what it has, not really. An Ameetec Tactical Master in 5.56 costs $1395. The Predator P-4 runs $230. $1395 + $230 = $1625. So for $70 more you're getting a rifle in 6.8 SPC. I call that a bargin. I'd just like to see that upper available by itself. By the way, thanks for keeping it midlength!!!! |
